Forums - Gaming - FF13 voted the best game of all time by Famitsu readers

I for one am actually quite happy that the game is more of a linear FF X style. That is what I loved about X. It centered around story while having an amazing battle system. So far it seems like that's what all the reviewers are saying about XIII.

Also I am sort of happy that XIII strays away from all the towns/inns. While their will be towns in the game, there just will not be tons of them like we are used to. I always found it annoying running through towns trying to find every single little thing. and of course you always miss something. and since the game is harder there is no need for inns.

Yeah, pretty much they focused on perfecting the battle system. I don't enjoy the addition of the replay battle system, probably will still do it the old fashioned way, but I can't deny that it's a plus to those newcomers to the series.

Story is also pointed out as a plus, but this i'll have to see for myself, because after FFXII's story, it will have much to live up to.

XII is my 4th favorite FF. Its story was very complex. I loved the Archadian Judges. But the main villain was just completely uninteresting. He showed his face maybe 3 times.

First its Japan there gonna hype JRPG like us Americans hype Halo, Second of all its not the "best game of all time" because it doesnt fit all genres.

Second Your not gonna tell a halo fan "ff13 > halo, because some Japanese magazine said it!"

Wow, this is a terrible list. What's with all of these recently released games? Besides FF7 is there a game there from before the PS2?

no1goes: Wow, just wow. I don't even know how to respond to your terrible (and oh so wrong) comments.

FF13 is not even in my top 50 (most likely not even in my top 100 games of all time). I've only had Mass Effect 1 for maybe a week and my play time on it has surpassed my play time on FF13 (which I've had pretty much from launch day).
I loved playing through DQIX (+150hrs on it), but I still wouldn't put it in my top 10.

starcraft: "I and every PS3 fanboy alive are waiting for Versus more than FFXIII.
Me since the games were revealed, the fanboys since E3."

Skeeuk: "playstation 3 is the ultimate in gaming acceleration"

''Hadouken!''

I would like to see this list again, in say... A years time.

Wanted to point out some highlights of a review I just read: (I promise you no spoilers)

"Some have argued that the death of the town and the world map the more linear progression is revolutionary while others have bemoaned it as game-breaking. In truth it's neither, but it is a very brave decision on the part of the designers."

"There are many elements in this Final Fantasy I have fallen in love with. Chief on that list are the characters; In my opinion this is the most interesting, well developed and likeable ensemble of protagonists you will find in a Final Fantasy game to date.

"At the beginning of the story when each of the characters are being introduced I was gripped with fear. Most felt like they filled niches and clichés that have already been explored in past Final Fantasy titles. Thankfully, I was mistaken."

This gem will give you hours of playtime, hours of challenge and miles of scenery to leave even the biggest cynic wide-eyed with wonder. There's a strong, intriguing and fun take on the Final Fantasy battle formula and a satisfying character upgrade system - it's good."

This may give some insight onto why the game got the position of #1. Dieing for it. ; ;

That's an awkward list. I've never seen any best of all time list with so many new games.

In such a list by gamers in the West there's only gonna be like 2-3 new games at most in a top 10, the rest would be old classics.
