Forums - Sony Discussion - GamingXP Heavy rain review.

Euphoria14 said:
By the way people, GamingXP is an accepted site on Metacritic in case anyone was wondering.

That doesn't really mean much though. I've seen a number of sites on metacritic that are less than reputable and have terrible review quality. Check the last review for FFVII: Crisis Core, the guy played about 1 hour of the game with no sound and his review managed to get on metacritic.

How can you say a game has no game and then give it a near perfect score..?

How can you say a game has no game, but spiffy gameplay?

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Someone can read that Heavy Rain is NOT an interactive movie 1000 times, but they'll still call it an interactive movie because once a guy on a forum they read said that.

So I'm not going to bother saying it's NOT an interactive movie. It's just not worth it anymore...

I can't believe people are questioning whether or not this is a game when it fits into an already established genre. It's a point and click adventure made to fit a controller. Are you telling me all of those games that people loved were never really games at all?

...

to be honest, the game actually got rated as a movie

Quote from BBFC: "These are obviously not real people, or real people acting, and it all depends on the level of blood and violence. We use the same classification for games as we do for films, and this game is suitable for a 15 audience."

so...

I am absolutely baffled that over half this thread can't understand what was meant when he said "No Game".

If he meant the game wasn't really a game he would have written it like this:

Cons - No game

Instead he wrote it as:

Cons - No "Game"?

He was clearly saying the con was that it isn't a "game" in the traditional sense. I took as meaning that if you take the gameplay for what it is (Similar to an old school point and click) then the game doesn't really have many cons at all.

This isn't a "game" about as much as Myst, Zack and Wiki, Fate of Atlantis, Day of The Tentacle, Sam and Max, Indigo Prophecy, Riven, etc... aren't "games".

The BBFC also rated Oblivion, all the GTA games and Quake II. Are those considered films now too?

Dragon's Lair isn't a game either.

Why did so many consoles have this non game? Of course omitting a few like the NES title.

This is what the good reviews of Heavy Rain will be like. Reviewers that can appreciate what Heavy Rain does will give it 9's, and those that just don't get it, like many users here, will give the game 6's. It will be no different than when Shenmue was released. Shenmue got a lot of 9's, and a lot of 6's.
