how do people know the week is floppy? where is the data?

the preorder charts. The game probably has only 13.5k preorders as of 3 days ago. Brett usually extrpolates the estimated first week sales (he said ~20k for NMH) by multiplying the preorder numbers by 1.5.

Just for reference, the NA launch of the first No More Heroes only sold 35k. If this one does 50k on week one, I'm ready to call it a resounding success.

It is up against some powerful new releases this week, though.

In line with what I was expecting, so far.

I wish I was not in Europe now so I could play that game. Gonna have to wait until next summer. I'm going to have so much gaming catch up to do... No more heroes, Tatsunoko vs capcom, monster hunter 3, red steel 2 and oh yes new super mario bros.

Anybody got a wii here in France?

4.225 million people have a Wii in France.

On the Wii there is tatsunoko vs capcom, which had a better preorders number. Then there are also Mass Effect 2 and MAG - not on the Wii, but I would guess (though I could be wrong) quite a lot of NMH potentials are multiple console owners.

Currently Playing: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked, Professor Layton and the Curious Village

Anticipating: Xenoblade, The Last Story, Mario Kart 7, Rayman Origins, Zelda SS, Crush3D, Tales of the Abyss 3DS, MGS:Snake Eater 3DS, RE:Revelations, Time Travellers, Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney, Luigi's Mansion 2, MH TriG, DQ Monsters, Heroes of Ruin

I must admit, I really hate No More Heroes 2, I find it to be very frustrating and boring. Looks like I'll just have to go back and play the first No More Heroes again.

TvC is probably the bigger threat here

Which is to say it isn't much a threat

It probably faces more competition nfrom New Super Mario Bros. than any other game mentioned so far

As I expected, great scores from reviewers.

The only thing it is competing against is Ubisoft itself. The game releases today or tomorrow and I haven't even seen an internet banner. I figure if you want your game to fail completely, this is a great way to do it.

Tatsunoko vs Capcom greatly benefitted from a creative ad campaign and has increased its potential first week sales by over 30%, which just goes to show you that people are willing to buy a game if made aware. Unfortunately, Ubisoft has completely neglected to do that....again. The game was fortunate enough to live off word of mouth the first time, but lightning won't strike twice.

How much you wanna bet the Wii consumers will be blamed for this sham release too? None of the gamers I know even heard of No More Heroes 1.
