Forums - Sales - Will RE The Umbrella Chronicles suffer because of RE4.

RE: UC is not a hardcore game. It is casual. SMG is more hardcore. Some hardcore gamers may get it because of the RE name but it is not hardcore. MoH II is hardcore. Ghos Squad is a better causal game than RE: UC. I am not sure how well it will sell but I saw no ads in Nintendo Power.

currently playing: Desktop Tower Defense (PC), Puzzle Quest (DS), Trauma Center New Blood (Wii), Guitar Hero III (Wii), Ghost Squad (Wii), Actraiser (SNES), Donkey Kong County (SNES), The Legend of Zelda (NES), Kirby's Adventure (NES)

Ouch. It's not fearless. It's stupid. You do know RE5 appeares both on PS3 and X360 (!!) in 2009 (!!!!) The combined userbase will be around 40 million.

It's the dumbest thing I've heard on this site for a while... Do you have another posters like this one here?

I think someone just pulled a very good JohnLucas. Maybe you want to post in that thread as well, stclam?

Oh, and Tetsuo, as you can read from my comment, yes we do. Quite some with even more fearles predictions? Got a problem with that?

JohnLucas thread?  Yeah, why not

Is my prediction outrageously stupid? I dont think so.

This game will sell for years, many ppl will buy it for the Zapper

If RE5 release on PS"2" and X360, then my prediction stand no chance

RE:UC outselling RE5 isn't completely impossible, but it's pretty unlikely. Sales of the RE franchise have been declining since RE2, and none of the three versions of RE4 sold as much as 2 million. RE5 looks like it's going to be one of those games where all the original creators left, but the company with the rights to the name put anoter team in charge of making a sequel, so I'm not very optimistic about it ending the trend.

If Umbrella Chronicles does way better than expected, RE5 turns out to be a disappointment, and sales of the HD consoles take a dive during 08, there's a chance of this happening. If I had to put numbers of them I'd say the chance of UC outselling RE5 on the PS3 as 50%, on the 360 as 25%, and much lower combined.

All I know is that this game is on my Christmas list!

Prepare for termination! It is the only logical thing to do, for I am only loyal to Megatron.

RE4 as we all know did extremely well (Japan excluded). On 11.13 in US will hit RE: TUCh and I wonder how strongly success of RE 4 affects on this title. Actually these two games are very different but how many people still want to kill some zombies? I think game will do very poorly because of RE4 and SMG. It struggles to enter top 50 on amazon.com two days before release. I predict 30k for a start. Does Capcom support this title with some ad campaign in US or believes it will sell on it's own? Your expectation?
Time to revisit this thread now that the numbers are in:

Launch sales:
America: 128,109
Japan:    109,988

so...tempting...to...serve...some...crow...

So it sold 3.5 times more in Japan than  you thought it would sell in America and 4 times more in America than your prediction.

Going forward, do you still think that RE4:WE and SMG are going to hamper RE:UC's sales? Do not forget that Capcom's forecast (the number they used to greenlight the game) was 620k shipped by march 2008 so that is the bar that it has to clear to be considered a full success (although between America and Japan first week it should be close to breaking even already).
