1st of all its not VERY successful. it lost over 1 billion on RROD, it lost a lot of money on launch day and god knows how much money MS spend on money hating playstation games. im not saying its not successful but its not VERY successful.

1. 1 year head start
2. money hating playstation games
3.xbox live

WOW, IF your weren't so biased then maybe you could see that all the money they lost is coming back very fast. IF your logic is true then ps3 is crashing in flames, which it is not.

The exclusive money spent on games is made back from the sales .  rrod is fixed and atleast it shows that they are willing to stick by there product, ps2 never got fixed and the warranty was never extended and how many broke. I went through 3..

I think they are doing great and if natal goes well we will see wii type sales.

reasons for success

xbox live

exclusives stollen from sony

extension of warranty

fixing rrod

exclusive games, halo, gears, mass effect, fable, left 4 dead

extra downloadable content.

1 year head start

FUTURE SUCCESS

NATAL will grab all wii fans looking for a new experience. getting japanese developers hyped about a way to push the japanese market

For me, the Exclusive games and the wonderful MS Support, i hear its no hassles.

1. Marketing
2. Partnerships with Developers (exclusive content)
3. Xbox Live - really developing the best multiplayer experience
4. Having a good development team (Microsoft Studio) and the money to promote their products
5. Cheap

"9. MS not being afraid to flash the cash."

Hell yeah, I love when people spend money on the CONSUMER!!

Everyone needs to play Lost Odyssey! Any opposition to this and I will have to just say, "If it's a fight you want, you got it!"

I don't even understand why people like impulsivity post? Its like their blind to everything and only see what they want to see. The simple fact is that Sony went from being the most successful untouchable player in the gaming world to losing billions and being in last place in a ridiculously short period of time. The turn around was absolutely staggering. So how can you come into a thread and bash a console that has been a success in every sense of the word from outselling its previous iteration to being a massive software pusher and most importantly to posting a profit?

I don't even know why I wrote all that, everyone that knows impulsivity knows that he has a deep hatred for the 360. Elitism, just act really hard like your better than everybody else and maybe the won't see your insecurities...or maybe no

may i ask what does Sony has to do with this thread? Why do you people need to mention sony in every singe MS discussion?

The simple fact is that MS went from making the most reliable and most powerfull console to making the system with highest failure rate in history of electronics.

^^See what i did there?

Look at your fellow Sony PS3 friends to see who brought Sony into this thread. The moment this thread was created the trolls flooded in. Hell I was in a Halo Reach thread just now and for some reason someone decided to bring GT5 into the thread. Why even come into a thread for a system you don't own just to bash it? Instead of trolling the response look to see what caused it. The thread is about success not failure rate.

just because someone else is starting a flamebait or trolling doesnt mean YOU have to do it as well. just report them, rather than acting like them (which can get you banned)

Money is coming back but its not coming back ''fast''. Its gonna take a while to patch all Xbox 1 's losses ( 6 billion ). I am not gonna argue about PS3 since this thread is not about it. RROD is not far from fixed. Reduced? Yes. Fixed? No. And dont try to compare 360's failure rate with PS2's failure rate. Sony fixed PS2 disc reading error within a year while we can still se people getting RROD 5 yrars after 360's launch.

Now you reasons for succses.

Xbox Live - YES

exclusives stolen from Sony - YES

extension of warranty- NO

fixing RROD- its not fixed yet.

exclusive games- YES

Extra DLC- NO (50 million paid to Rockstar games for GTA IV DLC, and there are rumors it might come to PS3)

1 year headstart-obviously YES, its the only reason why its still ahead of PS3

Put yourself in the shoes of Nintendo for a second and you will understand what triumph and disaster really means.

After being dethroned as the king of video gaming during the NES & SNES's reign wouldn't you be back on top of the competition again? For almost a decade Nintendo was used to owning most of the video game market. Don't tell me they didn't want to take it back because no company in its right mind doesn't want to be numero uno. Nintendo was always criticized for having monopolistic tendencies over their game developers ever since. They invested millions of dollars with that goal in mind but did they hit their goal?where did they end up with the Gamecube?

Nintendo with the N64 & Gamecube tried to fight fire with fire as being the most powerful & expensive consoles of their generation. But they went against their own claim with the NES & SNES: "the more powerfur and expensive consore doesnt arways win." History also proves that theory. And what did these consoles had something new to offer compared to CDROM, DVDROM, HDD, Camera etc? CDROM was way more cheaper than cartridges & the Gecko processor was way mor expensive than the overly hyped but cheaper Emotion Engine etc. etc.

The good thing is Nintendo learned its lesson with the Wii. The hardway, hell yes! And Nintendo's success and revenge couldn't have been sweeter if it weren't for its past history.

Relatively, Microsoft Xbox is considered a success bieng a newbie entering the business at the heat of intense competition. That's 4 consoles mind you instead of the usual 3. Nintendo and Sega were seasoned veterans in console hardware manufacturing business compared to Microsoft. Xbox was the underdog and darkhorse of video gaming at that time.

Microsoft Xbox's goal as Bill iconically stated, " Our goal is just to get in the game." And the hell they did meet their goal and even Sony or Nintendo will agree with me  that its a success story in video game history.

You do know that the Gamecube and N64 were actually much cheaper than the competition when they launched.  The N64 was $250 when the PS1 was $300 and the Gamecube launched at $199 when the PS2 and the Xbox (which was more powerful, btw) were $300.

I'm just saying.

1-year head start.

Its American. (more Americans are buying, which consists of about 30-40% of the market) (In Others and Japan the headstart has been erased)

Did not take 3 years for developers to program games for it properly.
