Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Top 10 Reasons Why the Wii is Very Successful

"Of course they do, which is my point."

But they weren't made for the PC. So the PC does not have those games. The emulator community does.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

Around the Network

1. Wii Sports
2. Wii Play
3. Wii Fit
4. Mario Kart Wii
5. Wii Sports Resort
6. New Super Mario Bros. Wii
7. Wii Fit Plus
8. Super Smash Bros. Brawl
9. Super Mario Galaxy
10. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games

These 10 games have sold over 187 million copies... and they're not done yet. Now that's what I call software driving hardware.

10) The best and most advertising.

If you've owned a PC for more than three days you should be ashamed of yourself for saying that...

If you mean emulators, that doesn't count. Because otherwise the PSP, Xbox, 360, PS2 (with HDD), PS3 (if that's done yet), DS (with R4), and Wii count.

Of course they do, which is my point. No matter how many retro games you launch/re-release on the consoles they'll never hold a candle to the PC in this regard. To say otherwise is very strange to me.

Why do people always disregard the PC as a gaming platform in every thread in here? To me, it is still a vastly superior gaming platform and has been since the late 80's (I'm not trying to coerce you into thinking the same but the utter disregard for any and all things PC in here to make other platforms stand out and shine is ludicrous imo).

Too bad that notion falls on deaf ears when you're talking console gamers and the general masses that have to get the "PC Guy" of their families to show them how to look up, install and work firefox...

1. Price: Almost half the price of the competition when it launched.

2. Motion Control: This innovative, "new" play mechanic WAS the Wii. It's not an add-on or an afterthought. It's the entire focus of the system

3. Nintendo Brand Loyalty: Nintendo is the oldest player that's still in the game. A lot of us old guys (AKA: Guys with money) were raised on Nintendo.

4. Games: Even without the horsepower of the HD consoles, Nintendo releases Game of the Year candidates every year. Some could argue that the single best game in EVERY genre is on the Wii.

5. Diverse audience: While the competition was trying to one up each other and appeal to gamers, Nintendo decided to forgo that and target everybody.

6. It's tiny and cute: I mean look at it! Don't you just want to hug it?

7. The Nintendo DS: On its way to becoming the best selling console ever, the DS expanded people's idea of how they could interact with a game. It's the Silver Surfer to the Wii's Galactus.

8. Wii would like to play: Probably the best ad campaign, ever. It didn't try to wow you with fancy graphics and such. Nintendo's ads showed people having fun. One ad didn't even show the console or the game. Just people playing with the remote. Genius!

9. Focus: It's not multi-media player. While it offers a browser and a couple of custom applications, it's not a multi-media machine. Since 2006, if you bought a Wii, you bought it to play video games and video games only.

10. Media Darling: News organizations (not just gaming news), talk show hosts, musicians, radio DJ's, you name it. They fell in love at first sight with the Wii. It brought the world together. 2000 years from now, the Bible will be a Wii owner's manual.
