Forums - Microsoft Discussion - MS just spent big bucks on ME2

Whoever spent the money, it must have cost a fortune for that time slot. They bought the entire segment of a championship tied football game. I think MS spent the money, as part of the exclusivity agreement.

The spots are sold some time before the game takes place so a tie does not effect the cost of the spot. It does however increase the effectiveness of the ad which I thought was great for EA. That time slot I believe is generally less expensive than the earlier time slots because if the game is a blow out people stop paying attention and that is a risk that is factored into the cost of the spot. 2 minutes is still a pretty penny but I think luck was on EA's side and that ad will really help sales.

Microsoft isn't publishing it and it's multiplat. EA paid for it.

Spend a million dollars and not even put xbox 360 jump in at the end like they always do? Riiiight.

I could be wrong on who paid for the ad, it's just my opinion.

I have seen plenty of multiplatform games with the 360 or PS3 jump at the end of the commercial, so I don't believe that tells you anything either way.

Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.

Correct, M$ isn't publishing the game, but M$ had the rights to publish the trilogy from Bioware.  When Bioware was bought by EA, a deal was reached to return those publisher rights back to Bioware (EA)...do you think that was for free?  Do some research on what the publisher's fee are...yeah...the cost of launch a new IP.

The Symbols at the end is 99.9% of the time a dead give away when figuring out who fronted the money for the ad. If the 360 symbol was not prominent at the end of the ad then it's most likely that MS did not pay any money for the ad.

This is no different than Valve doing their own Left 4 Dead 2 ads.

it was probably EA but your right they certainly arnt holding anything back!

That's precisely the point people are making to you. When you see a multiplat with a 360 or PS3 logo advertisement at the end, that means Sony or Microsoft paid for it. Sony did it this summer for EA's sports lineup.

It means they paid for part of it, possibly all of it, but most likely a joint payment agreement deal. But yeah... just clearing that up. Back to you amigo...

I didn't mean pay for the advertising. I meant pay for the rights to have their logo used and have it exclusively affiliated with their console.
