Some people get very touchy when it comes to that subject, I trully know. There was a thread a while ago, i think it was the "JRPG vs WRPG" thread. It mainly boiled down to people from either camp bashing up one another.

I just don't get the petty separations that are arising in gaming nowadays. Heck, almost anything leads to separations. 260 vs PS3, JRPG vs WRPG, FIFA vs PES, Forza vs GT, FF vs DQ, Halo vs COD. It's getting ridiculous.

Thankfully there are still gamers around that can appreciate games for what they are, and even if they don't enjoy a particular game or genre, at least have enough decency to respect them. 

I was tempted for it since MGS4 is definitely the most overrated trash I have ever seen. However the rest of the franchise was pretty cool so that sp[ared my vote. Same thing with GTA, GTAIV was pretty crappy when compared to San Andreas, but GTA before the 4th one was pretty damn awesome. I ended up going with Halo. An extremely generic and mediocre shooter in every which way. That is if you played PFSes on the PC.

Halo ... I just can't see the appeal ... it's a generic FPS with a lame story ... it's perfected blandness. I can only guess that the mp is the main appeal and since I don't like competitive mp too much I may just not get it. I just don't see what's so special about it - there are so many fricking FPS out there - why is this one the be-all and end-all of this huge group of games.

And some of that goes for my #2 (Final Fantasy) as well. Now don't get me wrong, I'm a big FF fan, but I just don't get the hype. There were some great FF games in the 20+ year long history of the franchise, but there were some mediocre ones too. Yet every new entry to the series is celebrated as the reinvention of gaming, when most of the time there is barely anything innovative at all in those games.

Final Fantasy changes it's main gameplay structure with each game of the main installment. They may not be all good, and it isn't the best JRPG series, by far, but tell me, what other JRPG series changes it's main structure throught the main installments?

.....Halo is over-rated, deal with it. It may have put that genre on the map as a "major genre" in your warped mind but it doesn't stop that genre from being something terrible and overdone anyway. Also, Halo didn't really revolutionize the genre as you seem to believe, you apparently are quite new to gaming both console and PC and I really think you need to do your research before spouting off butthurt remarks about your favorite game being bashed.

First Person Shooters could cease altogether and I would not care, the genre is overdone and only really applies to Xbox fanboy fragheads that either migrated from PC gaming of the 90s or are new to gaming altogether, you guys have no idea of what you speak.

Out of this whole over-rated debate, Halo is the only title listed that follows suit and should be listed.

Metal Gear is honored and praised for a real reason

What should Halo be praised for? introducing a bunch of rabid children to console gaming to annoy the rest of us? further dumbing down the mind of the typical american gamer? What should Halo honestly be praised for? I see nothing.

It is Halo fanboys and general First Person Shooter fanboys that give the rest of us a bad name, A BAD...NAME...why should you or your game be praised?

They are the ones who can think straight, should listen to them more.
