Forums - Gaming Discussion - Bayonetta 2 Confirmed?

Hey, you liked Bayonetta didn’t you? Of course you did, with its sexy witches, insane action, multifaceted serpents and other epic bosses, what was there not to like? In that case, you might be interested in this little tidbit: In a recent interview for the March issue of Game Informer, Platinum Games director Hideki Kamiya teased what the company might be working on next.

According to Kamiya, “We obviously have love for the work we have created, so I don’t see anything wrong with Bayonetta 2. Personally, I’d like to approach the world of Bayonetta from a different angle, in the form of a spin-off.” Perhaps a game starring Jeanne? Could be cool. Then again maybe the game could star one of those flying baby heads that Bayonetta had to shoot out of the sky. We wouldn’t put it passed those guys.

For more from Kamiya about Bayonetta be sure to check out our Afterwords section in the March issue of the magazine where he answers questions from the fans about Bayonetta's character design, what her name means, and where all that hair came from.

Anyone else excited over the possibility of a sequel for this game? Would you want a spinoff, or would you rather see Bayonetta return to the limelight?

If the original Bayonetta fails to break half a million sales lifetime, can anyone explain to me why it would get a sequel? The game is tailing off now, and didn't open well. Maybe they will try a spin-off in hopes of jumpstarting things.

I'm gonna hold back on my trolling/flaming/insulting and just say this:

Bayonetta hasn't performed very well thus far and I doubt it will get a sequel.

if this is released (and I hope it is) then I have 2 main pieces of advice;

1) Don't pass off a substandard port and expect to get away with it, the wrath of PS3 fans has been hard and deservedly so, it must have affected sales
2) Don't release the game in one of the emptiest times of year

A lot of games don't do amazing that get sequels. Look at No More Heroes. :P

Though NMH was Suda51's best performing game and has an incredible cult following.

Bayoneta is already platnum games best performing sales wise and best reviewed game (and Clover from capcom if you want to go back).

The game sold almost 700K on both platforms despite a shady quickjob PS3 port (sad face)... At this point of their career, these veterans know how to make the most game for least amoung of $$$. I wouldn't be surprised if the game already made money.
