Forums - Sony Discussion - so my PS3 got YLOD again...

So if 4% of PS3's break (low estimate), his odds aren't THAT unreasonable. Odds of one breaking are 4/100. Odds of two breaking is 4/100*4/100 = 16/1000 Odds of three then are 16/1000 * 4/100 = 64/100,000

If 32.2 million people have them:

64/100,000 = x/32,200,000

x= 20,608

So math-wise, at least 20,608 have had three or more PS3's break on them, assuming a 4% failure rate.

That works out to only .06% of owners. But it happens. Odds are way better of this than, say, winning the Lotto jackpot.

Can't we all just get along and play our games in peace?

I have a 40 gig launch model and it still works like new. I just recently bought a cooling fan for it that hooks up in the back. it works. pushes hot air out much faster.

Awww, I'm sorry dude. Spending a shitload of money is no fun. Especially, if there for games, and the main reason is because they breakdown. My condolences.

bluray readers are usually the culprit I personally know of 3 people on my friends list that have had that problem but I think they leave the game on and pause and leave over night or something.

I know one of them did that for sure my nephews was still under warranty but his mom bought a extended warranty from target and lost the reciept he never got it fixed.

now he got a 360 for COD2 mostly because thats what me my son and his brother play on we all have ps3 too except my son we share.

ya mines a 60 gig launch $600.00 ps3 it works fine still knock on wood. I hate to say it like when you think about it or say something thats when something happens.

so i'll keep it off till i forget and it will be okay LOL

Just kidding

I give it and minimum of 3-4 inches of clearance on all sides and keep it in the open air (not in a cabinet or something) and I vacuum the intake ports every week (really, not kidding. been doing it ever since my first PS3 gave up the ghost).

This might sound a bit far fetched but i was always told to avoid electronic equipment with a vacuum cleaner as much as possible, because of the static electricity it gives off.(i remember story's of people messing there tube tv's up this way). Sure once in a while won't do much  harm, but every week could create problems.
