Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony: "It Only Does 256 Players" new MAG ad.

Great ad.

It's good to see Sony hasn't abandoned the Dear Playstation commercials.

Not a fan of the genre, but that mass aspect has a promising potential, if just Sony markets it properly.

These ads are great for the PS3, I mostly enjoy the one where he goes "What's wrong with him". Sadly though this particular ad does nothing to help MAG. The footage does not show anything that makes it stand out as a shooter. The Army of Two commercial does a better job of standing out.

I think it does more than enough job by letting people know about the unique size of the battles and the whole moving up the ranks and commanding other players does enough to peak people's interest. With the internet now days you don't have to give a lot of info, just something to grab their interest which I think the mentioning of those things does more than enough to have people check it out online.

The Army of two commercial just shows a bunch of action. How is that anything special? It's not a bad ad but it's not better than the MAG one.

I really don't like the "It only does everything!" slogan. I just have never liked arrogance, and it's a very arrogant stance IMO. But yes, these are fun ads.

To be fair, the slogan is a lie anyway. The PS3 did way more when it was first released. Slogan should be : It only does some of the things it used to.

At ay rate, is this 250 players all at once or is it 250 players in instanced zones?

The 256 players comes from the game's Domination game mode. Things are chaotic, but don't expect to have all 255 other players on the screen. It's a huge map where you and the squads near you are trying to take the objectives on your side of the map while the other squads are taking their objectives on their side of the map. The idea is that the action starts out smaller scale, but as the attackers push the defenders back, things will get even more chaotic as the large numbers of players converge near the center of the map where the final objectives are.
