I find the animation and movement in Circle of the Moon to be quite stiff compared to the later games. It's a good game, no doubt, but I think Aria of Sorrow is the best of the handheld Castlevanias, and was enjoyed by me nearly as much as Symphony of the Night (despite its shorter length). Awesome game.

Also, Bioshock hardly deserves to be grouped as "just another" FPS. Most FPS games only feature a variety of guns with which to fight. Bioshock brings character abilities and potential for combat customization to a whole new level for console games with its mechanics, in addition to the guns that are standard to the genre (which themselves even have multiple ammo types).

My point was how the experience differed with those after it.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Gamerankings suck, only good review site is IGN.com

not really, ive disagreed with alot of IGN reviews, heck i usually agree with gametrailers more then IGN

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

@LordTheNightKnight:

I was just referring to your statement that Circle of the Moon "looks the same", is all. Personally, I really found the gameplay difficult to go back to after its successors.

Hates Nomura.

I didn't mean graphically. I meant the experience of the game looks the same when you start playing.

Yeah, Gametrailers is good and so is IGN....LOST YOU GOT THAT!!!!!

Mass Effect and Assassin's Creed will probably be fantastic, but I'd wait until there were a few more ratings to put them on this list.

Sites have been over rating games the past few years. Only SMG, BioShock and Orange Box deserve those scores IMO

Right so... You know for a fact AC and ME won't be great games? To me, those are the games that has the most potential. Even though I am an fps fan, Halo 3 and Call of Duty seems just bland.

Orange box is a great game, but HL2 was released several years ago, it shouldn't be reviewed again imo.

Fantastic year for gaming
If 360 can keep up reputation of having some of the best video games ever made, it will be a idel console to have for next gen.
Same with mario gettings its name back and staying at number 2 best game of all time!

What do you mean, "Getting his name back?" Unlike Sonic, Crash, Spyro, and others, Mario is one of the "only" characters who has never been in a bad video game (excluding spin off titles). He never lost his reputation. Super Mario Sunshine is not a fall back. 91.6% in Game Rankings is outstanding! There are only three 3D platformers, in Game Rankings, that got a higher percentage, and personally, perhaps only one of those games, Super Mario 64, is truly better. And what about New Super Mario Bros? It became an instant classic! Mario was always good. Don't confuse him with Fox McCloud, or even Donkey Kong, because Mario was always a star!

Getting his name in terms of the true successor to SM 64

Super Mario Sunshine is the true successor to Super Mario 64, not Super Mario Galaxy. Super Mario Galaxy is the true successor to Super Mario Sunshine.
