Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Call of Duty MWR sales adjusted up!

Don't get ahead of yourselves, it's only selling as strong as it is because of the name attached to it. It's no better than Conduit, but it doesn't have to be because it's a Call of Duty game.

Admittedly it is selling because of the name (how else would a game with no marketing sell?). But it does still show there is an audience for such games (as we say all the time and some say otherwise). Also, unfortunately (because I would prefer HVS to "win") it is better than the Conduit, at least in the online department (less glitches/hackers - according to what I read at least, I just have The Conduit).

Currently Playing: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked, Professor Layton and the Curious Village

Wow, awesome. Didn't know it had already sold that much. And with zero advertising. Well done, I'd say. Though not to the publisher. Maybe these sales will convince them to actually advertise the next game, even if it's only a little.

Guaranteed a million at this point. I thought Wii had no core gamers? haha j/k

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

Is it me or do many of these devs send these Wii games out to pasture? I saw ZERO advertisements for this game (along with Silent Hill) it is almost like they want them to die so they can say "well we tried".

I wonder how many HD games would sell if this is how they were treated by the devs. You can look at BlazBlu I guess as an example.

You want to talk hardcore, games selling with no ads whatsoever is pretty hardcore if you ask me.

Yet this game will be ignored as evidence that "m" games (as long as their quality) can sell on the platform.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

Yeah, if CoD Wii is selling a lot like console CoD games last gen before the CoD marketing blitz of this gen (plus the building of the FPS base) then it shows there is a market to sell these games and even a possibility to attract more buyers with better marketing, maybe even showing off the advantages of each version (CoD4 PC mods and servers, PS360 splitscreen and community, Wii ease of use controls without needing a decent PC) and each version can be catered to different types of FPS fans and no version is "looked down upon" (as it's happened many times in discussions)

This game far better than the conduit in lots of ways, not just online. Conduit did help improve controls in the fps genre though.

The Treyarch dev on GAF said they had basically this set up for W@W Wii control wise but the test groups they asked said the set up was overly complex and they didn't like it so they went with the presets and the ability to customize your bounding box and such, which was more user friendly, was bashed for it in reviews and user feedback, so they added it back in MWR, so they had the chance to do what The Conduit did before they "advanced" FPS controls so really it was just a missed opprotunity to be first.

And yeah like I've stated before The Conduit feels very much like a Rare FPS for current gen, same quality and everything (with the exception of a few little details and artwork that needs work) but there's a reason the FPS genre has evolved beyond the Rare games template, so its like a throwback in a time of Halo and CoD, if they could take that template and evolve it on itself then it could be something special but no cigar on the first go round.
