I do agree that games like Uncharted have lacked certain things that would make it more commercial friendly but to say it doesn't deserve to sell 5 million is completely subjective. The game may infect reach 5 million, but it definitely could have done more to reach a higher sales status but instead Naughty Dog/Sony decided not to do them while Bungie/MS has done them.

Comparing tps to fps is pointless.

360 sales show the top tps shooters sales capability are about half of a top fps.

Why doesn't the PS3 have a monster selling title beyond 5 million? Possibly because the 'HD' fanbase is split between two different consoles and PS3 has had three years of rocky support until recently? Or maybe because it has the lowest installed userbase of all the consoles? Or maybe because people who focus on graphics don't tend to buy games en mass?

Who knows. Crunch the numbers.

I don't think I am particularly trying to compare the sales of FPS compared to TPS. What I am comparing is the willingness to add commercial friendly features to increase sales for a particular game. I'm saying(as I suppose William is saying as well) that Naughty Dog could have done more to increase Uncharted's appeal and sales to the market. Things that Bungie hasn't hesitated to do such as the local multiplayer and the ability to split screen online. I believe Gears has also done this and look at it's sales compared to Uncharted if you insist on keeping it genre neutral. I'm not saying Uncharted could sell more if they did these things or even sell more than Gears but I do believe they are things that would have increased the sales of what Uncharted 2 is and will become. 

I would recognize that Naughty Dog has made some steps to make U2 much more commercial friendly than U1 such as including online multiplayer and making explosions bigger and giving it a more WOW factor(to the detriment of the feel and storyline of single player, but that's just my personal preference). However it could have done more to increase this commercial appeal which it decided not to do.

Haha well let's still give Sony a fair shake as they have created a lot of franchises that have sold very well and become very popular. But come on not everyone can be Nintendo. Nintendo is the most dominant publishing brand in the history of gaming and of course right now as well. So even though I know you aren't comparing it to them, we still have to understand that not everyone can be Nintendo and in most instances no one has.

When we look at MS they haven't had too many franchises achieve this either aside from well Halo. Remember they don't own the property that is Gears of War, but simply publish it while they actually own the Halo property. So I mean Sony for having as many big sellers they do have, despite not many going over 5 million, is still quite impressive. They have a lot of franchises that consistently sell over a million to 2 million units which is something most would love to have.

But let's just understand that when we discuss these things, that Nintendo is not the case and never will be because they are indeed something else. I mean I guess other publishers could be something like Ninty eventually, but it won't be easy of course. I mean there is a reason why 3rd parties struggle so much on Nintendo systems just because they have to compete with Nintendo.

So as I stated, with all that Sony is doing fine and when GT5 releases they will achieve this. Not to mention MAG and God of War 3 all look like they are going to be very successful with ModNation Racers having an outside shot. They aren't Halo and definitely not Mario Kart, but they will be really successful and put up good numbers.



And what other MS franchise have sold more 5m besisdes halo?



...because none of their ps3 games has sold 5 million?
