Forums - Gaming Discussion - Masashi Hamauzu (FFX/XIII composer) leaves Square Enix! WTF!!!

That Unlimited Saga track sounds like out of DQ VIII.

Really? I don't find it similar at all.

Hamauzu and Sugiyama sound pretty different to me even.

US is also older than DQVIII, but since Sugiyama's DQ soundtracks always have a smilar vibe to them it might be that Hamauzu was influenced by his work at some point. He said that he played the old FFs and DQs.

Looking forward to: FF Versus XIII / LBP2 / The Last Guardian / Yakuza 4 / ICO Collection

It's a great loss for S-E, he was a really good composer, as the OST's from FFX, FFXIII and SaGa Frontier can attest to.

But him working as freelance doesn't mean he can do a cooperative work with S-E. Just look at Uematsu and his return for FFXIV music.

So probably, we haven't seen the last of his work in a S-E franchise ;)

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

They also collaborated on all the hymns of the soundtrack.

I, myself, enjoy Hamauzu's tracks the most from the FFX OST.
