Well there's the Norse and Egyptian polytheistic mythologies they could do, but closer to home, and fairly closely related is Roman polytheistic mythology. Now that Kratos has taken down the greek pantheon the Roman Pantheon decides they can muscle in on a metaphysical power vacuum so Kratos has to fix what he's broken or see the Greek people come under the yoke of Roman tyranny.

Or Krato's son (daughter?) can step in and fix it. If it's a female relation to Kratos then we can have ultimate Bayonetta vs daughter of Kratos threads.

The Roman pantheon is the Greek pantheon, with some tweaked names.

Kratos attacking another pantheon would be a complete story-destroyer. How can there be more than one group of tyrannical individuals who rule the world? And he can't very well attack a human army after destroying a pantheon of gods, and presumably Titans, can he?

Well if you don't want to see Jupiter, Mars, Pluto etc as separate deities, then perhaps Kratos (or any surviving Gods or Titans) can get all prissy at the Romans letting other gods into the Pantheon and according them near equal status. Cybele and Mithras would make ideal gods to have to fight off as outsiders trying to usurp the rightful positions of the Titans/Olympians.

The Norse mythology it wicked too, as is the Egyptian one.

So after Kratos wipes out Olympus and kills everything, he'll turn his attention to minor Roman deities. Okay.

It's for this precise reason that I think Kratos' story arc ends with God of War III, at least if the promise of Chaos is carried out.

Norse mythology might work, if they do it right. But Egyptian mythology is just far too different. Did the Egyptians have a God of War? Horus was God of War...and hunting.

EDIT: Come to think of it, all the Norse gods were gods of war!

So that would be very interesting indeed.

Perhaps, Kratos dies in 3 and gets reincarnated in 4.  This time however, it's the norse gods instead.  (Anyone read the vinland saga manga, sorta like that maybe?)

Check us out at the Vindication Gamer Network on Youtube.

I think ppl missed the message... The Franchise can still be called "God of War" BUT takes place in a ENTIRELY story and MAIN CHARACTER unrelated to the current...like GOW in Norse Mythology... or Medevil age

Well with kratos as the main character, they could make a prequel on the psp(before CoO)

I wouldn't like kratos going to other mithology (Norse, Egyptian). I'll rather have a new character for that.

Cybele and Mithra weren't minor deities, they were competing sects; caused a bit of a stir in Roman society aparently. So more like young upstarts trying to act above their station. So if you take the Kratos story to its logical conclusion this decimation of the "establishment" deities would naturally lead to the rapid rise of these other sects, and hence the massive increase in the powers of those deities. New and interesting powers no less; in the hands of young, inexperienced and drunk on new found power deities. Plenty of material there.
