I ain't got no problem wit grammer. I is what i iz.

i dont often bother with punctuation and upper-case and that, but i always put the correct version of "their, they're, there" and "your, you're". its not that i even make a conscious effort. just naturally well-spelled, i guess.

It really irks me. Really, really irks me. Though that's likely a result from my job more than anything else.

I don't think us being on the internet excuses poor means of communicating. For instance, reading this sentence: "It really annoys me,that people call me out on this, over the internet" you have two stops that are unnecessary. I can't stand reading things that make me sort through misplaced punctuation and poor grammar just to understand what it is they're trying to convey.

That's not to say that your post was particularly bad, it wasn't, your meaning was clear and it flowed well. But, like zexen said, I'll read the posts that are much more clear first and am likely to skip over those that aren't.

I respect your opinion,but disagree.

You missed a space after the comma

You Zex, you wont change. But that's the way i like it.

MY ZELDA COLLECTION

I prefer to skip a letter when it makes sense, like tiping "u" instead of "you" cos it saves time. But besides that i write properly, and i think correct punctuation and commas are quite important.

In my opinion using upper-case letters when adequate is also important.

I appreciate when other ppl write properly on forums.

If you're on a forum, chances are you're debating topics. As such, if you want to appeal to ethos, you should use correct grammar and punctuation. Other people will, in all likelihood, ignore your opinion if you don't bother using proper grammar. Why bother listening to someone's points if they don't care enough to present their argument in a clean, easy to read manner?

I won't lie, if someone doesn't post using proper grammar, I ignore them. My gut reaction is to think that they are an idiot, even if they aren't. Even with this thread, I ignored everything in the original post other than the first sentence, because it screams stupid (again, even if it's not stupid).

Currently playing: Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, NBA2k11, Metal Gear Solid, Picross 3d

Lots of deliberate errors seen in here. Like many said before me, I'm less likely to read poorly written posts. Though internet communication is more like speech than written word, so things you wouldn't necessarily write in a paper are acceptable. Though, I read over every post at least once before hitting the button.

Some things that really bug me though.
-It's sequel, not sequal. I've even seen sekuel. I guess if you're going to misspell a word, you may as well spell it so badly it look intentional.
-If you want to shorten because, it's 'cause, not cos and especially not cuz.
-All intents and purposes, not all intensive purposes. I think I saw someone make this mistake while critiquing another member's grammar no less.
-Grammar doesn't have an E in it. One of those mistakes you only need to call somone out on a few times before they're fixed.
-Definite, it's de and finite, definite.
-Ridiculous also lacks an E. The same root as ridicule.

Someone should just make a thread about annoying spelling and grammar errors. I've got loads of examples.

"Now, a fun game should always be easy to understand - you should be able to take one look at it and know what you have to do straight away. It should be so well constructed that you can tell at a glance what your goal is and, even if you don’t succeed, you’ll blame yourself rather than the game. Moreover, the people standing around watching the game have also got to be able to enjoy it." - Shiggy

So your judging someone based on weather they use proper grammar. I'm not an English major,so using proper grammar is'nt important in my opinion. I'm typing on an internet forum;I'm not writing for a multi-billion dollar company,so I personally don't care about that. It's ironic that my thread about grammar,is the one with the most hits so far!!!!! lol

as far as judging people goes in regards to the grammar debate... some people come across as uptight assholes while others come across as more easy going and relaxed

can you guess which ones are which?
