Forums - Sony Discussion - It's odd to know this is going to happen

I like this thread.
Chances are the PS3 we have 10 years from now will most likely not work. It will malfunction at a time when one of the new consoles is out and we wont fix it or find a reason to buy another PS3.

I still have my genesis, N64, GC, PS2slim
Sold my Dreamcast and PS1
Lost several NES' over the years.

I still remember how great the N64 and PS2 were when I first got them and most of the way through their generations, The same way I feel now about the PS3.

I find it kinda funny, find it kinda sad.

It is weird when you look at your previous consoles.

I still remember how excited I was when my dad had bought me the PlayStation way back in 95. Back then I was a one console gamer, since I wasn't making money.

Now I can buy any console I want. Tend to go for older consoles to experience different games, I've put thousands of hours into my PlayStation gaming and that's a great bond. Hard to believe how protective of my PS2 when I got it. Covered it to keep dust off of it. Zone of the Enders and Smuggler's Run....memories.....

I remember the hype for it, my sister went out and bought one along with 3 games...

It was HUGE!

Yeah, good times, both the PS1 and 2, my dual is still always ready for use, though i dont use it since my PS3 is one of the few remaining full playstation backwards units.

Still, sony has made an amazing impact on the gaming world, and they'll continue to do so.

The PS brand has always provided me with unique, quality games, and that is one thing that you can never forget.

I still play PSOne and PS2 games but it's the console itself that's now useless to me, my PS3 plays PS2 and PSOne games so it's pointless for me to have anything but the PS3 plugged in.

I have a PS3 Slim, so I use my PS2 to play on PS2 games, currently playing SOTC (as well as other games) to get me in the mood for TLG hehe

it's the future of handheld

PS VITA = LIFE

I remember when i got my spectrum and how excited I was about the technology behind it and then it was an Atari and then a C64 and then the sexiest console I have ever come across, the one which etched gaming into my DNA- the SEGA Master System. This thing looked like a Lambhorgini. Me and my family would play on it for days on end (we would not switch it off as the games had no save option) and all my friends envied me.... damn, I feel old now :s

I still have my Genesis, Gameboy (no colours), Dreamcast, N64, Xbox and of course Xbox 360. The only console I sold was the PS1. Well I sold the genesis as well, but bought it back later.

I remember the times when games had no save option. The console had to run all the time. Just pause and turn the TV off. get back to it later. My genesis was turned on for weeks when I played a whole season of a soccer game. Of course it worked well. No RRoD or YLOD ever.

I think my most fanatic time was when I played the N64. I read tons of magazines, because there was no such thing like "internet". Okay, there probably was a internet, but it was not common to have access to it. I was so hyped for games like Zelda OoT, Goldeneye or Diddy Kong Racing. Now my N64 is collecting dust as well.

I used my original Xbox 2 or 3 times after I bought the Xbox 360. So yeah, I love thinking about the old times and machines, but I only play the current gen systems. I will never sell any of my systems again.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

This thread reminds me that I have to buy a new PS2 after my 60GB PS3 died last week.
I still have enough unplayed PS2 games for another couple of years to come.

On topic:
My oldest console is nearly 30 years old & I clean it every week.

That is the natural order of things, a better and stronger piece of hardware will replace the actual one(s).
PS2 is almost 10 years old and i still play a lot, mainly 480p games, almost as on PS3 and PC.
PS1 and Saturn is quite impossible for me to play, too much dated, but i still find fun in some very old games from Megadrive.

I don't recall the PS2 ever being able to do progressive scan.
