Not really. I think both sides of the video game world have been huge disappointments.
Wii side: 0 90+ rated AAA (non-Nintendo) games out for the system. No I'm not freaking out so much about the total lack of AAA games as much as it worries me that, to date, not a single company outside of Nintendo has gotten it right.
That speaks volumes about the lack of creativity in the video game industry, that it would be so horribly low or that executives are so vehemently risk averse. Any way you slice it's most definitely not a good or healthy thing.
HD Side: I'm not happy about the fact that outside of a few exceptions, this whole generation could be done on a last generation machine minus graphics. That in spite of all that power there's been so few games that really harness it besides giving everything a HD spit-polish.
Both sides point to the same problem: the industry as a whole is spinning their wheels. This is especially evident in the overwhelming amount of paintjob sequels that this generation has produced. Overall this generation has been a huge disappointment, and while there have been a few exceptions like good motion controlled games and Dead Rising, they're so few and far between it just accents the problem.
I wouldn't be a bit surprised if there was another crash.
