lol your really confused because of you xbox friend arnt ya? well here's my advice...

*See which console has the exclusives your interested in, judging from what you said PS3 is the one. I mean whats the point of getting a console where the games your interested in isn't in it? it would be a complete waste of money the purpose of your purchase is because you want to play this certain games from the console your after am i right?

*Online for PS3 isn't miles behind XBL if your worried about having hard time finding ppl to play online dont be you wont have problem with that trust me but if your after features such as Party chat or Cross game voice chat,etc then PSN doesn't have those altho Cross game voice chat is soon to arrive on PSN as we speak also there's PSN store where you can download demos,DLC,trailer,PSN games etc like the XBL and PS3 has a web browser you can surf the net with....like I said not a MAJOR DIFFERENCE.

*PS3 also plays Blu ray movies and regular DVD play music,photo etc so if your after a media center device ps3 is your best choice.

PS3 in every way possible.

Thanks for the advice everyone, I think I'm going to go with the PS3.

Now the only problem is waiting till May... Not sure what I'll do till then x_x

Yeah I guess so, only problem is I already beat all my wii games.
I guess I can replay some and play CoDMW Reflex or CoDWaW online also.

You really shouldn't ask this kind fo question on gaming board, you already know all the facts about the two consoles so you just need to make up your own mind. Go check out both in stores, play a bit on both the test stations to see what controller you prefer. This is very important because my hands were too big for the PS3 controller which took away my choice and you on't want to come home with a console and find out you have the same problem (or the other way around). And last but not least: GAMES. Fable 3 or White Knight? Halo 3 or Killzone 2? Do you have a gaming PC, if not then do you want to play games like Mass Effect 2? (the answer is yes btw :P) etc etc

Let me add this

When your offline with Xbox Live you know it

When your offline with PSN it looks the same.

For me PS3, the free online and the free w-fi built right in was enough for me, keeps things simple, its online day 1.

With the 360, if your on a certain amount of teh moneyz, you may not end up with online day 1, im just sayin...

all in all, its your choice, as for your friend, he overdramtizeing it, PSN may not be up XBL standards but you have to look at it AS a free service not a payed one, and if you look at it in that light, the PSN far surpasses even STEAM.
