There...are...FOUR LIGHTS!!!!!

Best episode ever.

You guys really mademe miss TNG. Star Trek what happened to you As for the OP, I can't fault your line of thinking Ultraslick given the reliability issues the 360 has had.

You are my fucking hero!

MS lost a GH 3 sale when my 360 got a nice case or RROD. It took 3 1/2 weeks for it to come back, so you might get yours back before Christmas day.

You CLEARLY haven't seen one of John Lucas's post.

I will never leave you

the service rep on the phone said 3 weeks till I get it back, still waiting for the pre-addressed box they are going to send me.
On a certain sites podcast, someone stated that most of the units that Microsoft sends back to the consumer are refurbs. This I am okay with, I guess. Does anyone know if they ever send back new 360's to people? And if so- how I might go about getting a new 360

Alas, your story is going to be replicated for hundreds of thousands of 360 owners this holiday season. US consumers continue to buy the 360, mostly because US consumers will buy just about anything (hell, just look at our cars, or our health insurance system, or our politicians), but European and East Asian consumers are refusing to drink the Koolaid.

I'm still stunned that Microsoft, one of the most profitable companies on the planet, thought it could get away with releasing this kind of substandard hardware. They're clearly an empire in decline.

I agree with pretty much everything thing you said.  US consumers don't usually research before purchasing.  That said... there is absolutely nothing wrong with American made cars.

on-topic - lol ya.. Microsoft really hasnt done much ti fix the problem.. they need to learn its the freaking X-Clamp, its not the heat so adding a heatpipe doesnt effect anything. Remove the X-Clamp and screw the damn motherboard in and the RROD problem will be solved.

What are you talking about? If you read the OP, you'd have noticed that his 360 is from launch, not a new model.

To say Microsoft hasn't done to attempt to fix the problem during any of the time between launch and today is ignorant.

No what I'm meaning is that adding a new heatsink to the new models doesnt fix the problem they have been having since launch. The problem is easily fixed at maybe at a cost for 2 cents for screws. Remove the X-Clamp, screw the damn motherboard in tightly, RROD = never going to happen again. Simple fix too, I've voided a few warranties fixing 360s that had the RROD (each one was like the 3rd or 4th console the people owned). Guess what, RROD stopped, they didnt have to send it back in for repair, their consoles have been running 100% for the last year.

You do know that is exactly what MS did on the new motherboard design, right? They are screwed down now... There was an article somewhere after the new motherboard rev came out and they dissected it to show the screws (they described them as beefy i think) that replace the x-clamp. They also added the additional heat sink to try to reduce overall heat and prevent motherboard warpage.

I'll try to find the article...

*edit*

Here you go: this is the article I saw and it has pictures on how the screws attach it rather than the x-clamp. It is on the new falcon motherboard...
