No what I'm meaning is that adding a new heatsink to the new models doesnt fix the problem they have been having since launch. The problem is easily fixed at maybe at a cost for 2 cents for screws. Remove the X-Clamp, screw the damn motherboard in tightly, RROD = never going to happen again. Simple fix too, I've voided a few warranties fixing 360s that had the RROD (each one was like the 3rd or 4th console the people owned). Guess what, RROD stopped, they didnt have to send it back in for repair, their consoles have been running 100% for the last year. |
You do know that is exactly what MS did on the new motherboard design, right? They are screwed down now... There was an article somewhere after the new motherboard rev came out and they dissected it to show the screws (they described them as beefy i think) that replace the x-clamp. They also added the additional heat sink to try to reduce overall heat and prevent motherboard warpage.
I'll try to find the article...
*edit*
Here you go: this is the article I saw and it has pictures on how the screws attach it rather than the x-clamp. It is on the new falcon motherboard...
