Which will sell more in America - FFXIII X360 or FFXIII PS3?

PS3 300 88.24%

Xbox 360 40 11.76%

Total:340

I predicted the 360 in this thread.

It's a long shot, that's for sure. All conventional knowledge points to the PS3, as it's the console the game was originally slated for, and the preorders are looking far better for the PS3.

However, I still think the 360 has a better shot than people have been led to believe. It all depends on how mainstream FF is, really. The more it is, the better shot the 360 has at equaling its sales. The PS3 had only sold about 5.4 million in the Americas before FFXIII was announced multi-platform.

I guess the advertising plays a role as well. If MS has their own exclusive advertising, it'd help quite a bit.

edit: I don't think comparisons like Tekken are any good - those games are simply too niche, a larger userbase doesn't effect sales too much. FFXIII may be different - there's never been a very large game in the Americas in which the PS3 version has outsold the 360. Batman was pretty big, but it had exclusive features, an advantage FFXIII PS3 will not have (I think). Note that Resident Evil and GTA was associated with the Playstation brand, yet the 360 versions handily outsold the PS3's.

I know FFXIII is more distinctively Japanese, it lacks guns and whatnot that seem to be the 360's top sellers, so it'll be tougher. Eh, we'll see.

I think PS3 will have the upper hand.

PS3 Owners: PS3 version.
PS3 and X360 Owners: Most of them will get the PS3 version.
X360: X360 version.

At some point, something must have come from nothing...

...nothing can come from nothing...

PS3.......bcos xbox360 is FPS gamer zone??? well..anything to do with guns and grenate will sell better on xbox360......I think.

I can't believe this question is being asked... Even if the 360 has an almost double install base, you have to figure when someone owns both a PS3 and a 360 they're much, much more likely to get it for the PS3.

Once you take that into account, it's a no brainer.

PSN: chenguo4
Current playing: No More Heroes

PS3 has the upper hand in this one. You just have to look at Tekken 6 sales to see what will happen, but on a bigger scale.

PS3 version will, look at the preorder list, look at amazon. FF has been on PS systems for a long time now, and this will be the first non-MMO FF game on xbox. Games with histories like this have sold better on PS3 like Tekken.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

PS3, probably by a decent margin. 360 version will still do amazingly well though.

its funny how we just asume that none of the people that own 360 never owned ps2's. but i digress, ps3 becuase its leading in pre order charts.

who said that?  People are saying PS3 owners are more loyal to games that were previously on PS systems then 360 owners.  Some 360 owners had PS2s, but a higher percentage of PS3 owners owned a PS2.  The proof is in the sales, games that used to be ps2 exclusives do better by percentage than games that weren't.

Until Tekken 6, this never really resulted in higher PS3 sales though.  Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, Soulcalibur, Burnout, Dynasty Warriors, Tomb Raider, etc... all sold better on 360 in America.

I think FFXIII will likely follow T6, but I wouldn't be that surprised if the 360 version ended up ahead either.
