Forums - Sony Discussion - PS3 in third place.... Does it matter anymore?

Let me Kill your point :

Assassin's Creed : overrated, hated by tons, got tons of bad press. People really believed the sequal would fail

Assassin's Creed 2: Great reviews, people still bought it even after the first one had a bad reputation.

As long as the game is good, it will have a chance of success with a little marketing.

On the other hand: Okami, Muramasa and Blazblue all great games but no marketing and they fell flat (mostly).

To the OP, it doesn't matter that's why almost all 3rd party games now are on both systems.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

LOL 200 million xbox 360's out there?. Me thinks you've been listening to MS spin. Theres 30 odd million xbox360's out there and 30 odd million ps3's to. The wonderfully succesful (joke) xbox360 has about a 5million lead on ps3 despite releasing 18 months earlier.

Oh geez...they're practically tied when you put it that way.  You should work for Sony.  By the way, Titanic made 1 odd billion.  The Dark Knight made 1 odd billion.  Oh yeah, they're $800 million apart.  See how that works?

So your saying the 360 cant handle tekken 6? The PS3 version is the cleaner looking version of the two anyways....the only thing gimped about it is probably the horrendous loading times- no thanks to the slow BDROM, easily correctible by an install(as is with most ps360 games) so I dont see your point. the reason companies "gimp" games is in order to get sales. (Bayonetta is a good example of this in NA), if both 360 and ps3 versions were the same the ps3 would prolly see better sales- right? most ppl dont wanna play the game coz the 360 is the superior version..even though its a fantastic game.

Sure logic dictates if you can get a better game on the PS3 or 360 devs should push that.. but since we currently live in a very expensive HD gen- devs need sales to survive.

I don't think he was one about how it handled or played but the release dates.

Arcade version of Tekken 6 came out in in arcades in Japan in 2007, based on PS3 arcade system. The game was released on PS3 and 360 2 entire years later. What took so long? The only thing that changed between the release dates is that 360 was added as a platform and they wanted simaltaneous release. So basically, PS3 owners had to wait an entire year for it.

And, don't forget that the original Arcade version was up and running at 1080p.  Also, with the team split working on both version, fewer resources for the PS3 version, and, because of that, the other modes took a hit.  It's not an entirely terrible game, but, it's not what it could have been.

Scenario, and Practice modes are complete trash...

Because it is the 360 fault how can u not say that. Lack of power and blueray do hurt the gaming industry and we all know it even though it hurts to say it. Just imagine if the 360 had the same power and blueray as the ps3 we would be seen games that woul be way better than todays games. We all know it even the 360 fanboys

So the PS2 hurt the industry last gen? What do you say to that PS fanboy?
Also I don't believe the PS3 is that much more powerful. Hype hype hype.

No. The arcade version of Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion was released in Japan on December 18th 2008. What got released in November 2009 is the port of Bloodline Rebellion, not the original Tekken 6. You can't expect Namco to be able to port the game to even a single console in time for Christmas when they had 7 days to do so.

Considering this gave them time to make a near simultaneous PSP release also, shouldn't that also get partial blame in your scenario?

is this some kind of joke thread??

please don't post threads like this it will only start wars, trust me. you do know the real figures for hardware sales, hint look at the charts

How is it a joke thread to ask the reason behind gimping games, and releasing late for no actual gain?  Just damage to the series.

First of all the quality of FF13 wasn't hurt by the X360. At least not in any significant way. In another thread here on VGC it was shown how the size of the core game is only 6.8 GB, the rest is only movies.

Second of all you are wrong about multiplatforms versus exclusives sales. It always makes financial sense to be multiplatform unless Sony or MS money-hats you as a publisher.

They do, they also promote you more than they do multi plats

2010 Hardware Sales Predictions

Wii: 20m- Sales will drop, but not by much.

PS3: 13.5m- It sold 12m in 2009, its only common sense it will sell more this year.

Xbox 360: 11m- It sold 11m in 2008 and 2009, I think it will sell the same.

My Fanboy Speech...

Why do you have to make excuses to defend a product that you purchased, but that's the only connection you have to it, you don't make it, you don't lose or gain money on it. I don't see where all of the defensiveness comes in, there is no reason for you or anybody else to feel obligated to defend it. Now I would understand if one of you were a developer for the product and you slaved over said product only to hear somebody call it stupid or a piece of junk. But none of you developed it, none of you are mature enough to realize that. Choosing a product all comes down to preference, you chose said product because it is best for you. Simple as that!

I never saw a point in removing "Bloodline Rebellion" from the title.  It's like they wanted to cause confusion.  The PSP version should have simply been "Tekken: Bloodline Rebellion".  Some people even mistaked the console version as the original "Tekken 6" and there was "another" Tekken 6 coming out sometime this year for consoles called "Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion".. Which, in turn, could have made namco loose a few sales.

I thought it was already said that the arcade version looks superior to the console versions anyway?  With PS3 looking the worst (lol)..  I want to see a game that pushes each system to their respective limits... probably wont happen with a fighter, but, it would be nice to see.  They could even use that goal as an advertising theme to boost sales... And lots of people would even have an excuse to buy 2+ versions of the same game.
