How is it a joke thread to ask the reason behind gimping games, and releasing late for no actual gain? Just damage to the series.

First of all the quality of FF13 wasn't hurt by the X360. At least not in any significant way. In another thread here on VGC it was shown how the size of the core game is only 6.8 GB, the rest is only movies.
Second of all you are wrong about multiplatforms versus exclusives sales. It always makes financial sense to be multiplatform unless Sony or MS money-hats you as a publisher.
Metallicube said: No a 5.5 million deficit doesn't mean much to devs. What is more important though is the attach ratio, in which the PS3 is somewhat suffering compared to the 360, especially in Japan. It is roughly similar to Wii's attach ratio according to this site, but only difference there is the PS3 doesn't have the advantage over Wii in sheer userbase. |
According to a more meaningful and somewhat normalized "tie ratio" over time, the PS3 is not selling software that badly. It actually sells more or less on par with the 360 in USA, and quite more in Others. It's true that the 360 is very marginally ahead in Japan for the time being (we'll see after the wave of JRPGs hits), but I expect a 360 owner in japan to be a real motivated enthusiast, and thus to buy more software than the average console owner.
Well, perhaps I was wrong? Still, you can't say the same thing wasn't done to Tekken 6. When I first played the 360 version, I can at least say that all the combos I knew in Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection translated well into that game... which was a plus, because that was before I noticed anything wrong with the game.
So, those two versions are ok... But, with both, you still need an arcade stick, more-so on the 360, but, you cannot wave dash on any controller.
Well I did say in early 2008 that the HD consoles were for all practical purposes, tied:

So no, it doesn't matter.

but 50% of it was slashed, enough to asume another 6.8 more of gaming
There are many multiplat games that aren't noticeably lacking. cod4 proved this waaay back in 2007
"Dr. Tenma, according to you, lives are equal. That's why I live today. But you must have realised it by now...the only thing people are equal in is death"---Johann Liebert (MONSTER)
"WAR is a racket. It always has been.
It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler
PS3 in third place.... Does it matter anymore?
no.
So you think a devs shouldn't go multiplat if they are only going to snag 2 million in sales?
You think 2 million is insignificant? If thats your way of thinking then what are devs thinking releasing multiplat games on the PS3?
So are you saying that PS3 gamers are fickle that they will only buy a game if it says exclusive? 10 million you would have got vs 6 million after going multiplat?
You seem to dislike the PS3 and it's owners. Maybe you should have posted this in the MS section.

But 3 DVDs can hold up to 20GBs of data. And I assume SE would have chosen to put the game even on 4 X360 DVDs if it was needed, rather than scrap material.

camack settle for 2, because of royalties, square was forced to 3, or no 360 version
