Let´s talk about this awesome game...

My story...  I first knew the game in the PC version like three years ago. I didn´t like it. It didn't hate it neither, but I had some issues getting started. I didn't get used to the First person perspective set by default. And also, I found the game too damm dark... Well I don't know what was wrong but I coudn't get it. But I kept reading only but good things about it.

Six months ago I bought a 360 and played Fable 2. I thought the game was pretty good, innovative, I enjoyed it. I read a thread where there was a comparison between this two games and most of the people said that Oblivion was way better. I thought that a four year old game that is still getting so much praise must be good.

Recently I found it for my 360, play it and... LOVED IT. Maybe it was the controller, maybe I had some more motivation and time but I totally changed my mind about it. Later I read this thread: http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=89564

Is funny how the personwho recommended me Oblivion in the first place didn't like Fallout (I haven't played that one yet) which is supposed to be very similar. An "Oblivion with guns" some may say

Oblivion is considered by some people the best RPG of this generation.

I haven't finished the game yet, I mean, the main quest. I wonder If I ever stop playing it. I went back and created several new characters of different skills, a mage, a thief, and started some other games to play it differently.

Well, I just want to have a very open talk about it while I am still playing it. I understand some people don't like it, I couldn't myself for while, but I would prefer if you can keep your posts positive. You didn't like the game, please don´t post. You are invited to keep reading and give another try to Oblivion. Are you an expert in Oblivion? Oh, please, tell me about it, right now is just like I can't get enough of it.

Oblivion...  wow!

A lot of people hate Oblivion for some crazy reasons but I personally believe it's the best WRPG ever.

It's very good, isn't it? I preferred the graphics and mods on PC, but it plays better on console I think, the movement and controls really feel tuned to a gamepad more than a K&M I think.

I think the main quest could have been better, but it was okay - my favorite big quest was The Thieves Guild quest, that was the one I enjoyed the most from the main game - i.e. not bringing in Shivering Isles, etc.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Oblivion has a lot of problems that Morrowind doesn't have. The level scaling on everything is terrible. You get no good loot until later in the game and generic bandits start wearing Daedric armor which is supposed to be rare and late game you never feel powerful unless you plan out every little thing. In Morrowind none of that is a problem. Enemies, loot and everything is all masterfully set so you can run into weak enemies in some areas and hard enemies in others and find good gear early, and you have no need to plan out leveling because you will eventually get more powerful than everything.

Forget best WRPG, how about one of the best games ever! You should really try Morrowind

Words can't describe how much I love Oblivion. In my opinion it's easily the best game in history.

@Wii R2 hardcore

If you already feel you've fallen in love with it, my main recommendation is to extend the gameplay as much as possible. Do exactly what you described - go back and create new characters, play around and do things all over. And explore every cave and dungeon you can, do every quest you can get.

Certainly one of the best WRPGS ever. Although Fallout 3 is the RPG of this gen for me.

I got it for PC first and played several hours.
Then I got the game cheap for the 360, but somehow I didn't play it as much, because I didn't like to start all over again.

EDIT: Just for clarification. I'm still talking about Oblivion here

I definitely recommend you trying Fallout 3. It has some things I like better than Oblivion (completing quests in several different ways), while other things not so much (it didn't get really fun for me until I hit level 10), but I still think you'd enjoy it.

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

I have got to the point in the main quest where I can't go to sleep and level up because I become a vampire. Couple of quetions:
Is it good to be a vampire?
Should I look for a cure? How can get cured?

oblivion is indeed awesome:) but morrowind is even more awesome:D
