HD version.

A) bigger total install base
B) FF is a "red ocean" game so to speak and the red ocean is on the HD consoles.

I think it would've gone ballistic in japan if it had happened!

(I don't think the actual game is gonna be as big in the west as some people seem to believe but we'll see!)

I voted for the HD consoles, FF has become well known for having excellent graphics, game play and story, maybe when Wii HD comes out SE will make a FF for that too (as well as PS4 and X720)

If your post was an attempt to make me look bad, then you failed.

When FF VII released, it got crazy sales based on Sony's FMV ads... showing off great graphics.

FMV's wouldn't work these days, though. HD graphics, however, would.

You missed the point totally. FFVII is regarded as the best FF game even now.... even as it is.... are you saying the Wii couldnt manage that?

Regarded as the best? Only by SOME people. It has no ubiquitous appeal.

It would be a much tougher sell to Wii owners. For Japan PS3 owners, it's close to exactly what they were looking for. On Wii, there would be little or nothing justifying it, unless they completely changed the game design. Many FF loyalists would jump over to play it, but SE can't expect that sort of investment from all their fanbase.
