I kinda see what the OP is saying, but would have liked a more convincing argument. What I got out of it was that Nintendo is making the most money but putting forth the least effort at least in the past year. After producing a number of golden geese, according to the OP, Nintendo is notably less interested in producing the sort of quality games in the sort of volume Nintendo fans took for granted.

A thread like this is so borderline content wise I'm not sure if it's a joke thread or not. Saying you're wowed by 256 players in MAG is suspicious.

I completely agree with Gnizmo on this subject. Feel free to dislike the Wii and Nintendo games all you like, but don't mistake what they are doing for lazyness simply because they cater to values that differ from yours. Instead, try to understand why they are successful despite your dislike. That way you might learn something.

If making games that sell 20 million and 30 million was sooooo easy to do and you could be soooo lazy and stupid and do it while thinking backwards and not keeping up with today's market... then how come only one company on the planet does it, and why are the other companies bleeding money and scrambling to copy Nintendo 4 years later into the generation?

Were the 13 best-selling games OF ALL TIME 13 mistakes? You think Miyamoto tripped over a dog and then made Nintendogs overnight for $5? And then he tripped over a scale and then made Wii Fit overnight for $15?

The majority of today's market would rather pay for 4 player local co-op than pay for 256 player online co-op. The majority of today's market prefers to have friends over for a game night than to strap on a headset and play alone at home. Nintendo is the only company in the world that can tap into the majority of today's market and expand it. And yes, IGN is right, that makes them assholes.

But if you feel abandoned by Nintendo, don't buy their products. And don't stop there, preach on the internet about how stupid and lazy and wrong they are, and how they abandoned you. Get others to join you. Good luck! Maybe if your campaign is successful, they'll only break 10 million sales 5 more times this generation.
