Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo could buy EA when they're near Bankruptcy!

If anything, Nintendo will buy out Maxis. THAT would be epic.

But Nintendo's studios (1st or 2nd party) usually put out only top of the line games. Where would Boom Blox or Nascar Kart Racing fit into that picture?

Your Boom Blox hate is legendary amp, but it is in unhealthy and may cause cancer.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

I don't think Nintendo buying EA is a good idea. With all the hatred the industry has cultivated against Nintendo this generation, I think it's a good bet that a huge chunk of employees would resign in protest if Nintendo took over, leaving them with a (frickin' huge) hollow shell of a company.

Wow. If Nintendo offered a better work environment, and not forcing them to rush out sequel after sequel, they would be idiots to quit just over that.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

To be Honest them buying Sega would be the V.I.P. move of the Gen IMO ^____^

Gaming make me feel GOOD!

I just have to ask the OP about this point in particular;

"Maybe Crysis could be a new exclusive IP?"

You do know what Crysis and Crytek are all about, right?

1. EASports games MUST be multiplatform - or they lose the licence.
2. Nintendo has no real use for EA
3. Wasted money
4. Sega would be a better buy and a better fit under any stretch of imagination
5. EA and UBISoft could both die, and it wouldn't affect my recent gaming library in the slightest, so I hope they DO go bankrupt and that their good IP's get purchased by competent gaming entities.

EA's exclusivity with the NFL forced them to release Madded to all platforms, but most of their licencing agreements (NHL for example) do no force them to release it to every console; which is why the Wii (the most popular console of this generation) still hasn't received a hockey game from EA yet

Ahhhh, thanks for the info.  I would have thought that any pro sports organization would have a clause like that.  I never noticed the Wii not having a hockey game because, well, I don't play sports games - other than wii sports occaisionally with friends.

I still say the rest of my points stand though.

Crysis on the Wii? Not to bash, but Crysis is too beautiful for the Wii.

They have Free Radical now, so let Crytek make the PC games and have Free Radical make the FPS games the Wii should have been having.

Yeah your right surely even the title screen will be on much for the wii to handle

even though the engine is scalable even for the PS2 to handle

You could scale Crysis's engine down to CryEngine 1, and it might work.
