Yes you are right but then again Monster Hunter proved that a 3rd party title can sell on the long time run if it's already an established and popular franchise in Japan. MH can sell as good as the ones on the PSP because MH3G still has monstrous legs (no pun intended :P). I'm sure the likes of a mainline Dragon Quest or Final Fantasy could work very well. Don't forget that Resident Evil had a great opening and can shift good volumes still in Japan. I'm sure 3DS can reverse the curse.

Monster Hunter proves that can sell fantastical in any handheld... Just that.. nad Resident Evil opened good but not great as the series used... It just proves that SOME third stablished third party games can sell on nintendo's consoles but that's NOTHING new... Still the Best sellers are Nintendo's main franchises...
