Well thinking back I also disagree with that part :P
As for the 3D, that should be cool and could be part of the reason for the delay.

the gps thing is kind of weird but i love the 3D idea, could actually get me to buy the game.
even tho this is impressive, its kind of pointless and if the release date was pushed back at all because of the development of this GPS device ill be pissed
I Hate the fact that all these pillows are contaminated by retard!!

Yep, although I believe most of the delays are for implementing the PS eye into game- or so I read somewhere.
*On a speculative point of view I think an updated PS eye with multiple cameras well be launched some time soon and maybe that also need software updates.
*Please note this is purely speculation and I don't have any evidence whatsoever to support this.

That's a rare thing on this forum. Someone admitting that they might not be totally in the right.
You have my respect NJ5 - not that you care for it.
I agree about the 3D although again many people wouldn't gain the benefit without a 3D capable TV right away.
If the PS3 lives as long as quoted by Sony then there is plenty of time for some to upgrade their TVs and reap the benefits of 3D GT5 in a few years.

My 3D PC monitor was almost $300, and it is only 22 inches. 3D TV prices are going to be insane at first. Regardless, it will be a nice feature, when more widely available. |
18. How much does all of this cost?
We don't know for sure, but the first 3D TVs won't be as expensive as the first HDTVs were, for example. With the exception of Vizio, no HDTV maker has yet announced pricing on its 3D-compatible HDTVs. While all TV makers are placing 3D only in their more-expensive models this year, we don't expect 3D TVs to cost much more than existing high-end plasmas and LCDs. The same goes for Blu-ray players (there's no word yet on how much, if anything, the PS3's promised 3D upgrade will cost) and for content itself (it's anyone's guess whether 3D Blu-rays will cost a couple bucks more than normal versions).
Again, no TV maker has specified costs for its 3D glasses, although Toshiba came closest when it told us "Glasses may cost $99.99, but this is not yet final" and LG also ballparked a price of around $100. Compatibility between glasses and TVs will be left up to individual manufacturers, although we do anticipate the third-party 3D glasses market taking off in the next couple of years.

from everything i heard from CES is that 3D tvs will only be a few hundered more then their basic HDTV counterparts.

I doubt Sony would do that. The PS Eye is enough for the Wands, and introducing a new camera peripheral would be stupid, when the old one already has a sizable install base (see here for my analysis on the subject).
I think Sony will do it with the PS4 though. Launch with motion controls and a 3D camera out of the box, and make sure as many games as possible have 3D support. As far as I am concerned, Sony are only warming up 3D console gaming for next generation to better take off in this area (and having a 3D camera would be really cool!).
OT:
Seems like the PS3 might get its 3D update in the summer then, that should be interesting
I'm also really glad GT5 is getting the 3D treatment. I think it is really cool to have this kind of thing for a game where you're seated in a cockpit. Though from the sound of it, it seems like there is a separate 3D version of the game, or am I the only one getting that idea? Because that would be pretty stupid I think...

THAT would be awesome... but I don't think that's what the article says.

it says that if we have a gps and the directions we drive in gets recorded and if we come back to the place where we started that completes the track.
Then we can put the recorded stuff from the memory card into the PS3 and it will recreate a track and create a ghost car that we can watch or compete against.
I'm guessing the game could have been delayed for 3D support to be added. It might have required a small rework of their graphics engine, the GPS could have been added as a update at a later time so I don;t think it's essential for launch.
Whether they affected the release date or not, they're cool features even if I cannot use them myself.

No, it says your lap will be recorded when you drive around a real world track, meaning you'd have to go to the Nürburgring or some other track in order to get a lap you can put into GT5.
