*On a speculative point of view I think an updated PS eye with multiple cameras well be launched some time soon and maybe that also need software updates. *Please note this is purely speculation and I don't have any evidence whatsoever to support this. |
I doubt Sony would do that. The PS Eye is enough for the Wands, and introducing a new camera peripheral would be stupid, when the old one already has a sizable install base (see here for my analysis on the subject).
I think Sony will do it with the PS4 though. Launch with motion controls and a 3D camera out of the box, and make sure as many games as possible have 3D support. As far as I am concerned, Sony are only warming up 3D console gaming for next generation to better take off in this area (and having a 3D camera would be really cool!).
OT:
Seems like the PS3 might get its 3D update in the summer then, that should be interesting
I'm also really glad GT5 is getting the 3D treatment. I think it is really cool to have this kind of thing for a game where you're seated in a cockpit. Though from the sound of it, it seems like there is a separate 3D version of the game, or am I the only one getting that idea? Because that would be pretty stupid I think...
