Megadrive and Dreamcast are two of my favourite consoles. I really like the MegaCD too, it had Sonic CD, and that all the games it needed to be awesome. Sega is my third favourite games company only below Nintendo and Blizzard on my list.

I absolutely hate 3D Sonic though.

I wish Sega was a little bigger.
They have a portfolio over so many genres that they could sort of rival EA or Activision when it comes to power franchises.

In relation to Nintendo for example, they could have a Power Stone once a generation like Smash Bros. Panzer Dragoon could be a Star Fox type deal. Streets of Rage could be the beat-em-up. They have Phantasy Star and whole bunch of other stuff to support them (at least in sequels) throughout a gen, every gen.

I don't understand why they don't treasure Sonic like Ninty does Mario though. Sonic is a major player---if they devoted time to release just ONE great 3D game a gen while maybe making the 2D handhelds or one Project Needlemouse, Sonic could go back to selling 2m average at least (but the last few titles have sold around 1.3m, except for Black Knight)

Nicely said....but Powerstone is CAPCOM..not SEGA

Glad that there are still lots of Sega fans.

I guess I've just been reading the wrong forums. :P

I don't hate them. I just don't think they were ever that great of a company. If the dreamcast was so good like everyone says then how come it only sold like 15 million units? It came out a year before the PS2 so it should have done well.

Dreamcast sold 10 million in a 2 year life span and assembled a game library worthy to take on any console. But you know, piracy = no software sales = unsustainable business and less future third party support. And Sega did lots of price cuts that only lost them money, they had to pull the plug.

This!

I still see this bizarre fanboy behaviour quite a lot, and I'm like "WTF?"

Valkyria Chronicles and Bayonetta are both absolutely great games from SEGA. I have been disappointed in the Sonic series for awhile but the company as a whole is putting out some great games.

Im cool with Sega too. House of the Dead games, publishing Conduit, Ive got a few Sega games in my collection.

I didn't know Dreamcast had piracy. That certainly hurt their chances then. And I respect the games the console had like Soul Calibur and Crazy Taxi but the console sales were horrid. All my friends had PS2 and some had Xbox, none had Dreamcast. It just wasn't popular in the real world; I don't know why on game sites people act like it was God.

As long as sega sticks with software they're a good company in my books. Valkyrie Chronicles was great and lots of people like Bayonetta/madworld.
