Anyone else is feeling the Killzone 2 vibe in the graphics?

Really looking forward to this!!!

I just don't understand how they intend to make them more realistic when the AC / NEXT / Whatever they are called now has a giant module with 5 or 6 heated/flaming chainsaws - doesn't scream more believable to me, in fact it looks even crazier.

Those aren't chainsaws I hope.

I can only hope they're these things:

No I think they really are something like chainsaws. The guy mentioned that they wanted the game to look more realistic (a little far fetched considering you're fighting in 16 foot robots). Even the boxart art towards the end of this video shows a very industrial looking mech on the cover, which leads me to believe we'll be piloting mechs that look like construction machines......

I am the Playstation Avenger.

Good point. It reminds me a lot, specially with the chainsaw thing, of the clix table top reboot Mechwarrior: Dark Age / Age of Destruction, where it was 80 years in the future and "real" Mechs were rare, so armies fought in a lot of retrofitted industrial and civilian mechs.

nvm

I don't understand the appeal in these kind of games, I think I played the demo of some armored core on my PS3 a long long time ago in a galaxy far far away, I didn't like it too much.

Because they're fun and have a quite a challenging learning curve and tons of customization.

They're not for everyone, that's for sure. The appeal of AC, and even Mech games in general, is extremely limited, it's a niche genre. And as long as a few still get made, that's fine with me, less "watering down" of the core concepts.
