PS3 is doing this at $299

I wonder what it will do at $199!

Still less than the Wii at $199 this year, next year and possibly the year after.

I'd have to disagree.  In December 2008, PSP did over a million units in the month.  Considering the cirumstances this year, you would have at least thought the drops wouldn't be so large but unfortunately they are quite massive.  Not easy to spin anything good out of that which is why Sony took the easy route and stating increases from November to December.

hmmm, true. But the system is in its 5th year now (or was) so it had to see a downturn at some point right. By now we know PSP GO didn't do anything for PSP's sales, so I didn't even expect a xmas/dec bump for PSP.

Its just the DS abides no rules, that may make PSP look bad, but isn't it just following normal patterns?

The PSP will fall 40-50% below Sony's estimate of sales, so the PSP number is bad by Sony's own measure.

Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.

All numbers contained in this document are according to the NPD Group, which tracks U.S. video game sales.

Yeah

I don't know what to say

One could still wait for financials

About what? There is a pretty clear disclaimer at the end of the PR

It's still a release from Nintendo.

It would seem odd to me for them to boast about numbers they weren't comfortably predicting as accurate themselves.

That said, I don't mind waiting for financial report. :)

I can see it, five years from now...

Yes it will, but thats because they had silly expectations in the first place

His point is obvious darth! WII > PS3.... just like FF13>MGS4 (sometime this year)!!!!!!!!

I'll take that disclaimer at face value and continue to wait for official financials. And ioi, what time is it over there? Shouldn't you be in bed?

Can someone explain me about NPD and Walmart on this - http://www.npd.com/corpServlet?nextpage=consumer-tracking-walmart-sams_s.html ?

On topic:

Wii >>> DS >>>>>>>> PS3 > x360 >> PSP >> PS2

go back up 1 page and you'll see your answer.

The NPD Group offers comprehensive market research on consumer behavior and attitudes across a wide array of industry sectors. This insight is gleaned from over 3 million individuals who are registered participants in NPD’s consumer panel and have agreed to provide us with this information.

Through consumer tracking, NPD offers our clients a total market picture, encompassing activity at all retailers, including Walmart.  Consumer tracking also delivers critical insights into market trends and demographics and customer satisfaction to drive strategic planning and tactical decision making, addressing issues such as:

They are estimating walmart/sams based off of 3m participating consumers (who some might not even shop at walmart). You aren't linking us to the magical page that states they get numbers straight from walmart/sams.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy
