Forums - Sales Discussion - Darksiders outsells Bayonetta on both HD consoles (more than twice)

Bayonetta = nextgen sepia filter

Darksiders = has colors!

Now on the more serious note... I'm not going to get Bayonetta, since I'm not that much into buttonmashers, I've played DMC 4, but mostly because of the story and likeable (badass) characters. Bayonetta's visual style, heroine, and art direction just doesn't do it for me. I've got GoW Collection and I'll be getting GoW3, that's enough buttonmashers for this year.

MY HYPE LIST: 1) Gran Turismo 5; 2) Civilization V; 3) Starcraft II; 4) The Last Guardian; 5) Metal Gear Solid: Rising

If you liked DMC 4 at all you will love this game. DMC 4 imo is a average action game in the same vein as Bayonetta just worse in every single aspect and I promise you thats not a over statment.

Its not fair to label this game a button masher, there's a lot of depth and mastering the combat system is going to take skill. If you button mash at all on hard its going to end badly and on normal if you button mash you are robbing yourself of what makes the game so damn fun.

Describe Bayonetta to someone and see the reaction "This witch with guns on her feet kills angels with her hair, which is also her clothing.". Its a tough sell for a American audience on premise alone.

Word to the wise, even if Bayonetta sounds ridiculous give it a shot and I promise that you wont be disappointing especially if you are a fan of action games.

Word of mouth will save this game. Everyone who has played it loved it. The PS3 version has no chance though. It's amazing how a female character can be so unmarketable.

Every argument ive heard about people not wanting to play this game has been "I dont like the character".

Very few gamers feel confortable playing with girls...

Thats probably part of it, which is childish and borders on misogynistic.

I don't mind playing a female character. As in matter of fact, I'd prefer to play one since lately all those main (male obviously) are either tough and badass(Western developers) or whiny teenagers (Japanese). But I really disliked her design.

Well, I'd personally like to see Darksiders do well. It seems like the beginning of a great franchise.

Yes I did liked DMC4, and I know that these games have similar game style. But Bayonetta has too many things that puts me off, also I'm not going to buy gimped version, if I were Sony, I'd ban that version and let them rework it.

That button masher reference was sarcasm, I just call most action games button mashers.

I dont know...darksiders already seems been there done that franchise to me.

Bayoentta on the other hand...I hope they don't make another one. Unless they can bring as many new ideas to the table, let it sit as a underrated classic that it is.

It's Platinum Games Curse.

They can never release a best seller.

Pixel Art can be fun.

While it probably won't win me any friends, the first thing that popped into my head when I saw Bayonetta for the first time was "Lame" as it seemed like the developers were trying far too hard to be cool. Until the past couple of weeks I basically ignored the title, and I'm still not that interested in it because I can't get passed the initial reaction ...

It is entirely possible that the kind of reaction I had to this game is fairly widespread, and consumers may not care about the quality of the game because of the image of the game.
