Forums - Sales Discussion - Ubisoft to "refocus" on PS3/360 in 2010

Yawn... Lots of developers thought this was a neat trick - churn out lots of shovelware/half assed efforts on the Wii to finance their HD games. This worked initially, then stopped working so well. It will be interesting to see how well they will do next year. I believe (though I don't have proof) that a lot of 2009 "success stories" on the HD consoles were financial bombs, only no one knows about it because the companes had deep pockets - some of them due to churning out shovelware on the Wii. As previously said, "Oh well, I hope they don't crash and burn too hard".

They just dont get it. I remember when they said that they plan on having nintendo quality games. Forget about that, I am excited for No More Heores 2 and Red Steel 2.

No need for the sardonicism, say what you really mean!

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

This is a good thing, they will make more money on PS3 and 360 games, also with DLC and online play, smart move by Ubisoft.

Again... Ubisoft is dying, and deservedly so... although non-too-gracefully.

By the way, this is not "another developer abandoning the Wii", this is just "another developer continuing not to do much for the Wii".

And a side note - looks like they will be sending out Red Steel 2 to die by hardly advertising, then will use that as yet further proof to justify their decision. I mean - what happens if Red Steel 2 would have been successful - their entire business decision would be proved wrong. So they MUST get Red Steel 2 to fail.

well they did say last year that they were refocusing on the wii, and had like 30 games in production. They are oversaturated, and have competing products on the same platform.

Just what Ubisoft games were supposed to perform very strongly? I guess they thought that Turtles game would be big?
