Very close for HD consoles there - if current trends continue I'll be very curious if MS wait until Natal launches before making moves to halt PS3 expansion.

With Japan slipping away from MS (arguably that's slipped as in past tense) they need US more than ever from a WW perspective. PS3 is pretty much guaranteed a decent weekly lead over 360 now, and with Others shifting in favour of PS3 (albeit not by much) MS can't let PS3 continue without some form of fight back.

Oh, and it looks like SEGA is going to pay the price of having a noticeably subpar PS3 port of a title in a genre that needs all the PS3 sales it can get in addition to 360. Hopefully in future they'll decide on platforms to be supported properly and either produce a better port or simply insist the developer produces a true multi-platform title from the get go.
