Forums - Gaming Discussion - [Kotaku] There Is Enough Discarded Final Fantasy XIII To Make Another Game

I remember now, all those years ago, when SE was saying how much BR was important to FFXIII development...all those words just got trown in mud in that fatidical E3 when it got anounced to X360...and now we got this. As much as I dont want to say it, its quite logical to me that this is just a proof that the multi development hindered what FFXIII was supposed to be.

Look, lets just  say that SE made XIII only to PS3, with all this content that was cut off in it (if this is true..I dont really want to believe). The game would got a few more hours and so on. If they wanted some DLC, the devs could add something different from what developed from the star, maybe something the fans asked for in the forums around the world after those oh so many hours of gameplay.

Now, if the info about the cutted off maps is true, all we will see is something that was supposed to be there already to be launched as DLC. Its a intelligent bussines decision, more money and so on, but to customers is pure, unadultered BS.

As many had said, I was already waiting for things like this to be confirmed after that multi ship announcement, but man...

Anyway, it will be a pleasant game for the fans of FF X, wich I am, and more people will enjoy it, but the 'ifs' will remain forever...

wow, on kotaku forum, there is only 1-2 posts about how it might be the dvd limit.

I used to be on kotaku and left cuz it was bursting with 360fanboys. It says right in the interview "volume constraints"

For me it was clear too, not less than obvious.

seems less likely to me.  I mean, does even Blu-ray have enough space for "Twice the game."

Does it even make sense for the game to be any longer let alone twice as long considering how much they said it was?

Was the content they cut even any good?  If so we'll see it in downloadble content.

Stuff gets cut out of games all the time.

3 DVD's. That would be ~27 GB. A DL BR Disc holds 50 GB. Some compression may be required, but a BR disc can probably accomodate twice the game.

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

The other points still stand.

I mean, stuff gets cut from EVERY game.   They already stated the game was what... 50-70 hours somethin crazy like that?  does it make sense to DOUBLE that?  Are most people really going to sit through TWO RPGs worth of stuff.

At what point does it become like Inuyasha or something.  Where they spend so much time looking for jewel shards you just don't give a crap anymore.

I never argued against your other points. Just responding to the red part.

But I do agree, 60 hours (I think) is long enough for me. I can't be bothered to put more time in RPG's (the only game I did put a lot of time in is Oblivion for PC). However, that's only if things get a little repetitive.

I could, but I'm not normal.

Though I gotta admit... I perfer 120 hours split over two paths then 120 hours for one main quest.

Sounds like a future directors cut to make a little more coin

I think SE will release DLC for FFXIII. Blaming X360 for its DVD space is not strong opinion (but possible) . SE can always include more disc as most X360 owner dont care how much disc they need.

i think Microsoft charges money from the Publisher by the amount of discs a game uses, i remember this being an issue with Rage.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

SE has been very lazy, whilst some features were obviously cut from the game because of the multiplatform issue, really SE could have done better, they have become greedy because of Wada and now milk FF instead of making quality titles.
I am hoping Nomura(and his team) will fix this problem, as he seems to be the only one left who understands the meaning of quality, and how to make a proper FF.

please tell me your joking

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

Lost Odyssey was about 4 or 5 discs. Why wouldn't FF13 do the same if it were too much data to fit into 3 discs?
