Forums - Sony Discussion - Gran Turismo 5 Delayed

Still adding features to catch up to other racers released each year?

Even the most staunch GT fan has to admit this is now getting ridiculous, hasn't it been ready for release several times already only to be put back time and time again. At the current rate they'll struggle to get a GT6 in before the end of the gen which would be criminal given the huge investment PD have had so far. Perhaps the success of selling the prologue allowed them more leeway if it provided sufficient funds to the kitty of the development budget.

None of the above matters though as it will still sell whenever they decide to release it, also gives me time to fund a decent wheel setup.

I'm sorry, how can it be pushed back "again and again" when it's only had one release date announced for one region?

This is getting ridiculous.

:(

MY HYPE LIST: 1) Gran Turismo 5; 2) Civilization V; 3) Starcraft II; 4) The Last Guardian; 5) Metal Gear Solid: Rising

It's not the delay. It's the lies. "We could release it any time, we just need to give it some polish" or words to that effect. What? development issues with putting on the final polish? Bollocks it was in a "we can release it any time" state.

Full o' bugs I reckon.

==> just the GT trial demo physics has put "others racers" behind ...
just add GT5prologue visual and you have the King back.

==> true

Time to Work !

Let's be honest we (by which I mean NA+EU) weren't going to get the game in March anyways, so for all we know they're just pushing the Japan release date back to when the NA+EU release date was scheduled to be so they can do a worldwide release.

well, everybody waited the game for 2009 december because several inside contact said it will be realased at this time

even if it was not official, a lot of people were pretty sure GT5 was going to be released.

then, it was "pushed" back !

And now that we have a date (a true one), it is pushed back again ...

So Sony maybe though the hardwareboost from FF13 was enough for the next 6 month.

I'm expecting GT5 to be a really stellar racing game. After this development time it should be a lot better then Forza 3, if Sony and PD won't lose their face. And Forza 3 is a great racing game.

Oh good morning.

Let's just hope for the best case scenario of summer world simultaneous release...

Sony Europe has said that Gran Turismo 5's latest delay is "only applicable for the Japanese market", although the platform holder also declined to estimate when the game will be released.

"This information on the GT release is only applicable for the Japanese market," the company said in a statement to Eurogamer. "SCEE will announce the launch date for this game in the PAL territories in due course."

Sony Japan had announced a March 2010 release date for Gran Turismo 5 at the Tokyo Game Show last year, while SCEE had been a little more cautious, declining to confirm a date for the much-anticipated Polyphony Digital racer.

Personally I think Sony could release it this summer and it would still compete with Natal/Reach/whatever just fine.
