In a recent interview, Michael Pachter has mentioned that he expects the PlayStation 3 to have outsold the Xbox 360 in the month of December, although by a small margin.

Pachter expects the PS3 to sell about 1.4 million units, compared to 1.35 million Xbox 360s. On the other hand, EEDAR expect the PS3 to sell 1.45 million, compared to 1.49 million Xbox 360s.

Pachter also states that he "expects another price cut for both systems some time this year (around summer), but notes that because its manufacturing costs are lower, Microsoft has the ability to lower price as early as March or April." He continues on to say that at a minimum, he expects a new Xbox 360 SKU in early 2010 (likely with a 250Gb hard drive) "at the same $299 price point, and thinks that Microsoft will cut price early in the year only if it begins to lose significant market share to Sony.”

I sincerely doubt any home console will get a cut this year, given the drastic cuts of last year.  I wouldn't be surprised to see them with bigger HDDs (360, PS3), or more colors (Wii), by the holidays, however.

The portable consoles, on the other hand, almost certainly will get cuts announced at E3, or shortly thereafter.

360 price cut? probably, it's been a long time.

Sony wont cut, they will push through like they have been doing. The PS3 have over a 31 million install base and that wont be ignored. But if Sony cuts the PS3 price this summer it will be very small cut.

Sony should be up YOY until September 2010.

MS will most likely cut before summer, should also be a small cut.

I can see a $50 PS3 pricecut in the USA after the 45nm GPU revision before the holidays to counter Natal launch.

360 price cut? Maybe.
