ANALYSIS:

Console Breakdown

  • 13 PS3 Games, 11 X360 Games, 3 PSP Games, 2 Wii Games, 1 DS Game.
  • TOP TEN: 5 PS3 Games, 4 X360 Games, 1 DS Game

Trends

  • God of War III, MAG, Bad Company 2 and ME2 will have very strong debuts indeed.
  • Dante's Inferno and Heavy Rain should also do quite well.
  • In the future, Halo Reach, Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Gran Turismo 5 look like they will have very strong openings.
  • Final Fantasy XIII is still a little worrying, especially the X360 version, but it seems to be doing alright now, with nearly 18,000 pre-orders last week.

Im not sure if I believe in those numbers.

No Alan Wake at all, and Halo: Reach only a fraction of Mass Effect's and MAG's preorders?

My impression of Halo fans is that like 100,000 of them sign up for a pre-order immedietaly after a new Halo is announced.

GOW3, MAG and ME2 will be very strong in NA. Battlefield: BC will sell a ton more than the first.

And GT5 will be huge in America.

I'm actually disappointed in that.  I hope Alan Wake gains more pre-orders later on.

There's no way the difference between the Battlefields is that big.

EDIT: Then again, what EA is doing with it and Dante's Inferno shows me they care about the PS3 sales more anyway.

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

Halo: Reach doesn't have a release date (or time of the year), ME2 and MAG are released next week |:

Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.

i am not surprised at alan wake not making the list...no one i know has even heard of the game...and we know very little about REACH so those preorders are amazing for REACH

^^

But what about Alpha Protcol? It doesnt have a release date either, but still its got more pre-orders than Reach. And I've even forgot what kind of game it is.

Alan wake is a very small title, hampered even more by being released on xbox where there isn't much of desire to play anything that isn't an fps or action game.

Alpha Protocol will probably release in Q1/Q2.
