There's only one way to fix them to save them from the situation they are in right now.

Release much more!

Top Ten Ways to Fix JRPGs: Become more like WRPGs

There is unironically nothing at all wrong with this statement.

Keep JRPG elements in a JRPG and keep WRPG ones in a WRPG. Don't mix the two, the results won't be any good.

I like my JRPG's as they are now. With ridicule, lots of dialogue, and very slow progress. Fuck innovation, this is one genre that is better off without it.

When Mass Effect 2 (a superior WRPG) get perfect scores from Western reviewers I will laugh at all JRPG fans.

And the guy taking about marines doesn't know anything about WRPG.

Ohh I almost forgot.... JRPG needs more macho characters, even female characters should be macho.

Why don't you make like a tree and get out of here?

The points were all relevant and highlighted how the genre needs to evolve. They don't need to implement all 10 on this list to move the genre forward, just mix it up from the stale formula thats currently causing the death of the genre. New IP's just aren't selling well in the JRPG genre and there is too much recycling of the same series that are the only ones who are successful.

To those people convinced that JRPG's are fine sticking with the same formula (in some cases story) they've played for years then you'll be the ones to blame when the JRPG genre crashes and dies for good.

I agree with it feeling dead. In ToV everyone was like a chuck e cheese robot, moving a lil bit.

I thought it was hilarious it mentioned Tales of Vesperia when it came to lack of multiplayer gaming...

It has one of the best multiplayers out there that isn't online.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Only if you feel that variety is of the devil...

I do feel that way, if your definition of "variety" is "having one generally good genre and one generally outdated, esoteric, and increasingly irrelevant one."

So you're saying that a genre you don't enjoy should either stop existing or become like a genre you do enjoy?

And besides, if JRPG are so outdated and irrelevant, why do Japanese gamers continue to favor it instead of genres which are popular in the west, like FPSs or WRPGs? Are they just blind to the quality of the obviously superior western culture?

Do me a favor, stop thinking that your tastes are superior to that of other people. It makes you look like a douchebag.

Agreed!. JRPGs are fine. You guys think the Saving the world bit is a cliche only found in JRPGs? Look at some of the most popular WRGs and tell me they don't centre around that very cliche? Hell most games in general follow that standard

Black Women Are The Most Beautiful Women On The Planet.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

Pepole talk as if JRPGs were ever popular outside of forum dwellers and FF\KH, lol.

Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.

Besides most casual people who buy FF/KH don't even know they are JRPG's, they just see them as the "best" RPG's

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

Except a lot of those games are more about gameplay than story.
