6 TB? I call BS on it. Why would that much be needed for gaming? All they need is a faster blu-ray drive on the ps4. Blu-ray can already supposedly hold up to 200gb or so which is waaaay more than enough for gaming

not enough for uncompressed data. Wow, imagine developing games. Compression? Fuck that.

Arent the majority of PS3 games uncompressed anyway?

Also Pioneer had a 16 layer 400GB disc and that was using the old 25GB per layer.  Using the new technology that would be over 500GB.  So how would that not be enough?

I'm not sure actually. I think MGS4 wasn't completely uncompressed...maybe 80% of the sound or something.

I don't know, I don't get this. 6TB, really?

I don't understand why ,....I'm not even going to finish this sentence this is nonsense.

~6 TB's..

PS4 will be over 800 USD confirmed.

Pixel Art can be fun.

I think Kojima still won't have enough room for whatever he plans on doing.

PS4 will probably just have a different laser diode that can read different layered BD. Wasnt there like a 500gb BD disc panasonic was working on but would require some type of different diode but still BD?

This will probably be it. 6TB per disc in the next decade wont be happening in any homes, folks.

6TB? Games would either need to be many times longer, or much more detailed to need that space. Not only is that a jump for storage, it would necessitate a sizable increase in RAM to hold current assets. How much does 100G DDR3 go for again?

6,000 gigabytes I can store half musical library on that wow , p.s is any body gonna make a joke about a mgs game that maxes it out with hours of video ?

Over 600$? I like their determination in introducing new formats and things but...that's preparing a rope to hang themselves.

halfway through the game there is an uncompressed HD audio excerpt of a recording of the Konami break room lasting 12 hours

+1

So true about Kojima, according to him he never realises his vision to the full extent although I suppose that's what makes him brilliant.

@OP

Makes no sense for Sony to be changing media formats for their next console. The blu-ray drive for the next console will have a much faster read speed and if a dual layer BD is not enough they can just manufacture disks with additional layers.

I believe the next generation won't even touch 600 GB, let alone 6 TB.
