Forums - General Discussion - Favorite female vocalists?

This isn't about the most beautiful voice, just the one you like best. Any answer is appropriate, just try to not suck too hard at it. :D

Okay, here are a few of mine:

Margo Timmins - Lead singer of the Cowboy Junkies and her voice just makes me weak in the knees. There's something about it I can't get enough of.

Chrissie Hynde - Lead singer of the Pretenders. To me, her voice is just pure sex.

Natalie Merchant - Adorable.

Aimee Mann - Just the right amount of throaty and thoughtful.

Diana Ross - Probably my favorite female voice of all time but only during her run with The Supremes. I don't know if it was the technology at the time or the style of music but her later stuff doesn't do it for me.

Hayley Williams - Paramore opened up Alternative music to me, and it was because of her voice

Hayley Westenra - Her voice is just so calming, I enjoy listening to the Celtic Women but her voice stand out, plus she provided the soundtrack to Endless Ocean.

Lea Michele - Have you heard her sing? Just WOW!

Demi Lovato - She's got a cool voice

Taylor Swift - I just love her

It's difficult to pick any single one as I like so many for several reasons. Anyhow, here's a small sample.

Haley Westenra - Her voice is angelic. It's just thrilling listening to her.

Emily Haines from Metric - I can't exactly pinpoint why I like her so much, but I just love her.

Corin Tucker is quickly becoming one of my favourites. I've only recently began listening to Sleater-Kinney.

Tammi Terrell - Beautiful voice. Both her and Marvin Gaye together made up my favourite duet. Certainly up there among my favourites.

I'm amazed that so far, no one has mentioned Aretha Franklin.

In my opinion, she is the best female vocalist of all time. She's simply incredible. Here's a little classic:

If I say Taylor Swift, will the ghost of PS3 come lynch me?

The Doctor will see you now  Promoting Lesbianism -->

- Hayley Williams is good
- Lights is pretty good
- Janis Joplin
- Joni Mitchell
- Kelly Clarkson
- Carrie Underwood

Lisa Gerrard and it's not even close.

And from there, in no particular oder: Alanis Morisette, Shirley Manson (I miss Garbage ), Ethel Merman (look it up, you will not be disappointed, she can BELT out some lyrics), Rosemary Clooney and Amy Lee (Evanescense).

In before Ps3.

Anyway, nobody's said Leona Lewis yet. I know everyone hates the X Factor for some inexplicable reason, but you can't deny that she has a beautiful voice.
