Forums - Gaming Discussion - Bach: 360, PS3 have plenty of power to offer, Nintendo can't say that

Well Microsoft has certainly demonstrated a clear and unfaltering ability to read the gaming market, so if I were Nintendo I'd certainly heed what Microsoft has to say about my product.

Do we REALLY need  a Wii HD? The only thing that 360/PS3 have over Wii are graphics. Everything else in games are last gen nothing really pushing the limits besides graphics.

better online? more features? can play DVD/Blu Ray? better 3rd party support? bigger HDD?

Online can be updated via software

Features again software

DVD- Software

Better 3rd party support - opinion

HDD- Addon

Also i was talking about games, not hardware.

Most games have linear SP and basic MP, the only real games i see that are not possible on last gen consoles are MAG and R2 oh and Halo 3.

try Warhawk, Uncharted 2, 1 vs 100, Little Big Planet, Killzone 2, Resistance 1 FOM, Fallout 3, MGS4 and lot of other games i forgot

And if you think most games have linear SP and basic MP, maybe you should lay off shooters?

sony and microsoft should just partner next gen and release a super uber console. imagie, halo, gears of war, uncharted, gt all in once console? WOW

yeah that would be awesome Don't think it would happen but if it did that would be awesome HD vs WII.

hahahahahahahahaha

no idea how to make this properly work

While I have no opinion on when the next Nintendo Console might be announced / released I do think Nintendo need to retain the Wii name for the it's next console. With it's strategy of getting everyone from kids to housewives to hard core gamers into the Wii the brand recognition of the Wii is where things are at with Nintendo now.

Nintendo used to be able to trade on its own name so each new console could be given a new name (NES/SNES being an exception) and it would sell. Sony started with the brand recognition with Playstation, and MS picked it up with Xbox. Nintendo has that one lesson to learn from Sony and, to a lesser extent, MS and that is once you have a console name that everyone knows and wants you don't drop that name and start over again. I really think Sega partly lost it because they didn't learn to pick a brand name and run with it though multiple generations, perhaps Genesis 2 instead of Dreamcast may not have saved Sega from exiting the HW market, but it might have given them a better chance of survival.

The next Nintendo console needs to be Wii, otherwise this one simple thing could mean Nintendo falling back and the next gen will very much be a 3 horse race with no one establishing clear dominance. But quite what they should use to differentiate from the original Wii is the question: Wii 2, Wii HD, Super Wii, Ultra Wii, Mega Wii, anythying but please don't make it a play on words of "we", leave that to the game titles.

Inacurate. Very inaccurate. Anyone and I mean anyone who has been around the block since the NES days knows that this in extremely inaccurate. No one is ever going to say the Wii will produce 1:1 par graphics with the PS3. We know that would only come from madmen. However form a technical side of consoles this is untrue.

In no time in console history has a machine ever peaked in capability. There has always been some group that used some kind of feature in a innovative way to produce better results. As any technical person interested in consoles will know that the Wii TEV is extremely under used.

Yes I know it's fun to jump on the Wii bashwagon. But really what does that make you look like to anyone who is smarter than. Either your an idiot who lacks any form of technical know how or a sheep that's incapable of independent thought.

Its' a progressive part of HD consoles, improving all the time. More open worlds, better physics, more detail. Everything takes time, but Microsoft & Sony are the ones who will break into this moreover than Nintendo. Microsoft & Sony do try with games such as GTAIV, Fallout 3, Oblivion and others. Maybe technology isn't ready yet, or maybe with the newer games we will see more in the upcoming future. The only open world game I can think of for the Nintendo console is No More Heroes, but it isn't really open world, very limited.

I understand that it takes time, but when this gen started i kept hearing "Xbox 360 has a processor that is 100x million better than Xbox 1 did" then Sony came out even bigger and better with the Cell but neither have done anything.

I want a game like Cell x (I think thats its) where you can blow stuff up and have physics going crazy, or at least Crysis level physics.
