Forums - Sony Discussion - Bayonetta, why shoud we care if the PS3 version is gimped?

Its a well known fact that the Xbox360 version is superior to the PS3 version. Because of this, I've seen many people say that they aren't getting the game  because of this.

But the way I see it, an 8.0 isn't a bad score. Its actually a good score, plus why should  we deny ourselves of having the pleasure of playing a good game? If you, like me, only own a PS3 (well, i used to own an xbox360 but not anymore...)  and play the PS3 version, would we acctually know how much of a difference there is? Reading reviews and opinions isn't enough, to  really se the difference, we need to see both versions side by side. but since we own only one console, which is the PS3, we never will, and I say,  ignorance is bliss!

Let us not let other people's opinions affect our personal decisions. though honestly, i won't be buying Bayonetta  till its dirt cheap or at least a good deal cheaper coz I have very limited resources and GOW3, FFXIII and GT5 takes  takes priority in that order...even over U2 :P

But if i had lots of money, i'd buy it in a heart beat.

If I had no plans of ever owning a 360, I would get the PS3 version. But I do want a 360, and since it is supposedly such a good game, I don't want it to be spoiled by the technical issues that are galore on the PS3 version.

I think you answered your own question at the end! There are so many great games appearing in the next few months and these will be taking priority over a game which hasn't be made to the high standards that (i hope and expect) many other games, such as the ones you listed, have. I will consider picking it cheaper later in the year when the usual summer lull in games occurs, assuming I've finished all Q1 releases!

After playing the PS3 version for 2 days i have to say that:

- Graphically it looks great, not awesome but great
- Dont judge the game on the prologue "clock tower" segment,, cause when i first played it i was going to break the disc, cause the framerate is maybe 10 there, but you start playing in Station you realize that the framerate is very good.
- Now about loading,,,, i dont get it how sega didnt force us to install the game to the HDD, or at least give us a choice.. cause whenever you put an item you see LOADING, whenver you open the menu LOADING, whenver you pause, LOADING,,, i mean WTF ? SEGA PLEASE PATCH IT AND LET US INSTALL PART OF THE GAME ON THE HDD.

Advice: if you are an exclusive PS3 owners like myself, go buy this game NOW, its that good, and pretend that there's no other superior port, but if you have both consoles go buy the 360 one instead unless there's a patch for install is planned.

There are actually some PS3-only owners that refuse to buy the game for the simple reason that its inferior to the 360.  Im playing Bayonetta currently on my PS3 and its still definately worth it.

If those PS3-only owners that will rather wait to get this game cheap but will still eventually get it then good for you.  Those that simply wont pick it up ever then its really your loss, cause they'll really be missing out on one of the best hack n' slack this gen.

Bayonetta is a great game to start the new year if those are still waiting for the March games.

As far as I know, the biggest issue with the PS3 version are the loading times...Sega could´ve at least included the much hated mandatory install, which in this the game would´ve benefited from it.

If you want to play the game but feel Sega doesn´t deserve that you buy a copy, you could borrow it/ rent it...that way you get to play the game while keeping your $60 for another game.

I care, the title went to a PS3 preorder to a wait tell it is cheaper used 360 title for me. This game looks so fresh and sick, but I will not give SEGA my money if they are not fare and balanced in their game quality. Performance differences that are this high on multiplatform titles are unacceptable.

I played the demo and I did enjoy it so I will definately look at picking it up in the future. At the minute I've still Demon's Souls to get through and have to pick up the new RaC and then once February hits there is a game released almost every week that I want! The problems with the PS3 version certainly hasn't put me off the game for good but it will definately be in the back log for a while.

Well im glad to hear itll at least be in your back log than not at all.  I too have Demon's Souls to deal with, frustrating at times but fantastic game none the less =)

If there's any ps3 only owner here who is a Devil May Cry or Ninja Gaiden fan and is avoiding this altogether because of an inferior version, it's their loss. Yes the x360 version is better but this game is still worth your money. Honest.

What if the x360 version didn't exist and the ps3 version still turned out like it did? Would you still avoid it? Didn't think so..
