Forums - Sales Discussion - Holiday 2009: PS3 vs. 360 Exclusive Game + Hardware Sales

No surprise really... MS has about 17% more Consoles on the market. It's logical they sell relatively more games.... they fall within the same param which is 12-13 millions.

I am a Gamer... I play games and not consoles. I have a PC and Console on which I game... I like games. End of Story!

Lips and Singstar did far better than I thought. Individually, they don't seem like much. But if you add all of the various titles together, they're pretty impressive.

On another note, anyone notice that Lair did 33k over the holidays? I wonder who bought it..

lol - that's probably 33K at an average price of $5 dollars or less.  Poor old Lair.  I got it for $4 myself just to see what all the fuss was about - not recently, 5 months or so back.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

I didn't realize how well Forza 3 was doing.

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

This is a simple compilation of exclusive game sales from September 19, 2009 to January 2, 2010. All older titles are included, though just rough estimates (please inform me if I missed anything). I count timed exclusives (Star Ocean 4, Final Fantasy 13) in this list because their rival console counterparts haven't been released yet. I started the count on September 19 because that is the week right before the launch of Halo 3: ODST, which is important to include in this list because it is the highest selling exclusive of the season; basically I consider Halo 3: ODST as the unofficial start of the holiday push.

X360:

Halo 3: ODST - 4.43m
Left 4 Dead 2 - 2.44m
Forza 3 - 2.23m
Grand Theft Auto 4: Episodes from Liberty City - 1.12m

Halo 3 - 536k
Lips (various titles) - 328k
Gears of War 2 - 312k
Left 4 Dead - 275k
Halo Wars - 263k
Fable 2 - 248k
Viva Pinata (various titles) - 129k
Project Gotham Racing 4 - 126k
Forza 2 - 105k
Banjo & Kazooie Nuts and Bolts - 94km
Gears of War - 91k
Star Ocean The Last Hope - 53k
Too Human - 46k
Mass Effect - 41k
Ninja Blade - 36k
You're in the Movies - 32k
Infinite Undiscovery - 31k
Scene it - 20k

Total: 12,986,000

Hardware: 5,142,592

correct me if iam wrong but those games i high lighted arent they also on "PC", so persay u cant classify them as exclusive or in simple terms "CONSOLE EXCLUSIVE"

exclusive, console exclusive, whatever. i don't care about the whole "which console has more exclusives" or "which console has better exclusives" argument. this thread is only about what sold on the 360 and the PS3 that was not on the competitor's console. obviously PC is not part of this thread whatsoever.

so enough about the terminologies. it doesn't matter.

Was it worth the $4?

Actually, we have a rule about this sort of thing.

^ fine. you win. i don't want to incur nazna's wrath.

anyway, that rule is still meaningless to me. i don't feel the need to be technical. i just want numbers.
