I gave up pirating about 4 years ago I think, deleted all my pritated music, software and games. Now I am totaly legit. I prefer it that way. When I play a game I own I care about getting my entertainments worth, same with music. When I was pirating stuff I didnt care to really apreciate it or apreciate the work that went into producing it. I feel like I have a much richer gaming and music experience when I know my hard effort at work has rewarded me with the gaming and music entertainment :D Plus at the end of the day I have a game case as my trophy to say "I conquered this game"
Plus nothing beats actually OWNING a game, you cant have ownership over a rented Ferrari, You can stand next to it and pretend you own it, same as you cant have ownership over a burnt disk because you havent payed the fee to have to license to legaly own it. You can pretend you own such and such a game and put it in your list of owned games but because you dont legaly own it your just playing pretend. Your posing :p lol
If at first you don't succeed, you fail
Games: Legit
Music: If it is from my country, then legit, if not, it has to be a really great artist to buy it, everything else pirate...
Complete DVD/Blu-Ray: Legit (unless they screw me, then i screw them)...
Movies/TV shows in digital format: If from my country, then legit, else pirate (unless it's worth the Complete DVD/BR purchase)...
Software Apps: Almost everything is open source in my PC, the rest is between legit and pirate depending in how i feel about the company and if i use it for fun or work...
I pirate stuff pretty much daily, but I also have a huge and legit vinyl, CD, movie and game collection. If I couldn't pirate stuff, I wouldn't spend any more money on these things than I do already. In fact, music wise, I've discovered a ton of artists through piracy that I wouldn't have ever heard of, and I've bought albums that I just wouldn't have bought had I been in a music store flicking through racks of CDs. I download a lot of US TV shows that aren't show here and I don't buy the DVDs/Blu-Ray when they come out, but if they were shown on UK TV, I wouldn't have bought the DVDs/Blu-Rays anyway.
I stopped pirating about 2 or 3 months. I never pirated a game the last game i pirated was on the ps1. I buy some movies have about 10 genuine movies. I don't like music unless its something like fable or beethoven (2 pac as an exception his album is the only album i ever bought). I don't pirate antivirus just bought kaspersky. So i can say i don't pirate any games, music, films, antivirus, operating system etc.......
I acctually bought some legit pc games like command and conquer the first decade and swat 4 the stechkov syndicate.
I used to, but then with Valve practically giving games away for free, it's hard not to just buy them.
The one exception being Borderlands, I really regret buying it - it looks like Gearbox tends to milk that game to shit.
I'll pirate to try things out (games and some software) and if I like it I buy it, if i don't like it then it goes into the recycle bin.
Music I have been using pandora for a year now and haven't pirated or bought music in a long time.
Only music.
I don't have a reason to pirate PC games thanks to steam.
