what mature games from nintendo?
they've never done 1

Nintendo has published a handful, and owns the rights to Eternal Darkness' Sanity Effect (I'm not sure if they actually own the entire IP or not though). Sort of like Next Level Games developing Punch-Out!! it is still a Nintendo game.

yes, but they never DEVELOPED a single one

And...do they have to?

Nintendo has said since day one on the NES they make games for 'all ages'.  It seems to have gotten them pretty far.  I can't think of one company who makes strictly M rated games who has gotten to the level of Nintendo.  The biggest companies out there that I can think of that focuses on M rated games are Blizzard and Rockstar, and they don't even come close to Nintendo.

Nintendo has titles like Metroid, Fire Emblem and etc, all Teen.  And you know what, many people who like the 'M' games tend to like these games as well.  They're doing just fine.

Wow, Blizzard has been VERY successful with WoW alone. Then throw in the Diablo2 craze (many still play it today). They don't even have a console but just develop their games that have been extemely successful. I would go as far as saying that warcraft and starcraft and to a lesser extent diablo all rival Mario, Zelda and Metriod. Starcraft2 is pretty much the most anticipated game out there PERIOD along with Diablo3. Just ask around anyone that owns even a mediocre PC how badly they have been waiting for both those games. The story and replayability in Blizzard's games have been second to none. I know I will put my PS3 on hold the moment SC2 and D3 come out along with many others.

Make games, not war (that goes for ridiculous fanboys)

I may be the next Maelstorm or not, you be the judge http://videogamesgrow.blogspot.com/  hopefully I can be more of an asset than a fanboy to VGC hehe.

That wasn't a test for the SC series. That was a test for hack & slash games. They could have ported III to the Wii with motion controls and that would have been a proper test for the actual series.

And why did the Wii need to be tested for that but not the HD systems? It was just an excuse.

Obviously it was a test to see how much of their fanbase went to the Wii.  Whether it sold by merit or by fanbase, either would have been successful but it did neither.

A watered-down spinoff is not going to move the fanbase. Not even Nintendo would test Super Mario fans with Mario Kart.

Funny enough Nintendo could get away with having a watered-down spinoff with Mario and it would still achieve a level of success. The Mario name is THAT strong.

The games being good don't hurt. From most accounts, that isn't the case with SCL. And I noted elsewhere, SCL was made in lieu of a proper SC game, while the Mario spinoffs are their own games.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

No matter how you slice it, two games do not rival Mario, Zelda or Metroid.  Diablo III and Scarcraft II, no matter how popular or hyped, are not going to overthrow the popularity and sales of all the upcoming Mario, Zelda and Metroid games coming out.  And that was the point of my comment.  While I love Blizzard games just as much as the next guy (Diablo III is one of my top 3 most anticipated games), they just cannot match Nintendo in the amount of games produced or the popularity scale.  With just one release cycle of Pokemon alone, they can pretty much cancel out the sales of any Blizzard title.  And with all their accumulated titles (such as Mario, Pokemon, Zelda, Metroid, Kirby, Fire Emblem, Star Fox, F-Zero, Punch Out, Pikmin, etc), they pretty much dominate most of the gaming companies out there and cover most peoples interest.

A few 'purists' will stick to hating Nintendo on principle or what have you.  But generally speaking, almost everyone likes a few or even most Nintendo series.  And that's why they're so successful.

who cares? (also pointed out to be wrong) Paying someone else to do it, or paying yourself to do it doesn't make too much of a difference to me.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy
In the past we played games. In the future we watch games. - Forest-Spirit

FYI, Starcraft, World of Warcraft, and Warcraft 3 are all rated T for Teen. Only Diablo is rated M. Diablo also has the lowest sales....hmm I wonder why?

"Pier was a chef, a gifted and respected chef who made millions selling his dishes to the residents of New York City and Boston, he even had a famous jingle playing in those cities that everyone knew by heart. He also had a restaurant in Los Angeles, but not expecting LA to have such a massive population he only used his name on that restaurant and left it to his least capable and cheapest chefs. While his New York restaurant sold kobe beef for $100 and his Boston restaurant sold lobster for $50, his LA restaurant sold cheap hotdogs for $30. Initially these hot dogs sold fairly well because residents of los angeles were starving for good food and hoped that the famous name would denote a high quality, but most were disappointed with what they ate. Seeing the success of his cheap hot dogs in LA, Pier thought "why bother giving Los Angeles quality meats when I can oversell them on cheap hotdogs forever, and since I don't care about the product anyways, why bother advertising them? So Pier continued to only sell cheap hotdogs in LA and was surprised to see that they no longer sold. Pier's conclusion? Residents of Los Angeles don't like food."

"The so-called "hardcore" gamer is a marketing brainwashed, innovation shunting, self-righteous idiot who pays videogame makers far too much money than what is delivered."

I agree with Sega, Nintendo needs to start making a few mature games. I know Nintendo likes their family friendly image but they are never going to get 13-18 year old males buying their consoles if they have no hardcore/mature (whatever you want to call it) games. This is actually one of the two things keeping me from buying a Wii (the other being my budget).

Hate to break it to you, but have you looked at the sales of consoles?  Plenty of '13-18 year old males' are buying a Wii.  And not just looking for 'mature rated content'.  Looking for games from a variety of fields, from Mario and Zelda to Metroid and Smash Bros and even Mario Kart and Pikmin.

Spend some time on this site and you'll even see how many 'hardcore HD console gamers' have one or two major Wii games they're highly anticipating.
